I saw it mentioned by other people and thought i'd give it a go...I don't think it should necessarily be read into though, there's no evidence for it meaning anything. I'm sorry for freaking anyone out, you guys are probably all being considered for funding which is why it's taking a little longer. I just hope I get in, funding or not!

Just received a letter from USC Price, I'm in with funding, but no email or any electronic indication really, my online status still says "received". Is that normal, do they not send emails or let you do anything electronically?

Schools Rejected From:

Still Waiting: All

Undergraduate institution: UCSB

Undergraduate GPA: 3.57 (Honors)

Last 60 hours of Undergraduate GPA (if applicable): 3.79

Undergraduate Major: Political Science/International Relations emphasis (BA) minor in History

GRE Quantitative Score: 154 (67%)

GRE Verbal Score: 157 (77%)

GRE AW Score: 5.5 (96%)

Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable): >1 (graduated last June)

Years of Work Experience: 3

Describe Relevant Work Experience: Model Arab League (honorable mention), administrative assistant, stockroom organizer, customer relations, collating, public relations. Currently searching for relevant internships.

Languages: English (native), Spanish (advanced-near fluent), Arabic (intermediate)

Quant: Quantitative Research Methods of Political Science, Macro, Micro, other quantitative based science classes. AP Calculus and AP Physics in high school.

International Exposure: Traveled all around Europe (Sweden, England, Germany, France, Italy, Austria), Australia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Samoa. I will have traveled to Israel as of this summer.

Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): Demonstrated my interest in IR and my formative experiences. Discussed my interest and research areas in the Middle East and foreign policy. Tied together my study of Arabic, relevant classes in undergrad, current study of the Arab world through books like Ghost Wars, The Looming Tower, and Descent into Chaos (highly recommend each of these for those that are interested in terrorism), to name few, and inspiration to have a positive impact on the world. Furthermore, discussed how the program was a good fit for me by concisely reviewing some articles and professors from each school and demonstrating my interest in each one and how they coincided well with my study areas. Also spoke about how these schools would facilitate my entry into a job in the State Department, CIA, FBI, NSA, etc. by opening up internships, connections, and other helpful links the schools and their professors provided.

Strength of LOR (be honest, describe the process, etc): 3 Recommendations: 2 very prestigious professors from my University and 1 from family friend who is the head chaplain at UNC-Chapel Hill (former Chaplain at Duke). Very strong letters, did well in the professors' classes and gave them good guidance as to what to include and highlight. I believe they provided very cogent and precise opinions as to why I would be a great candidate for the programs I applied to.

Others: Active Los Angeles World Affairs Council member.

omg this thread is making me nervous! lol. We should be hearing from USC any time now.

Me too!! I'm stressing out

Hopefully we'll all hear within the next two weeks or so. For those that have been accepted, when are they requesting you confirm attendance? I received my first offer on Feb 14th and they would like confirmation by March 15th. Also did any USC folk apply for the Coro fellowship?

Thanks!

KJ90- That's hilarious! What are your stats? Where are you applying? I'm pretty stressed out about it but I'm trying to be realistic about the schools I'm capable of getting into.

Am MPA applicant - I called and spoke to a lady earlier, she was really friendly and helpful. My applicant page was in the first stage til Thursday, then Friday AM went to ad com apparently and Friday PM said decision was in the mail...so when it happens it can happen very quickly! i'm sure you'll hear something soon! A lot of people have said that they've received letters of admission before their status has even updated online too, so don't worry.

I just received a phone call from my advisor at USC and I got into the online MPA program!!! I had e-mailed my advisor earlier today just to ask when I could expect admission notifications and he called me to let me know I got accepted! In terms of funding, though, he said that information will come separately via snail mail. So while I am super excited to have gotten into one of my top choices, I am hoping I get enough funding to actually go!

For the past few days I've been trying to login to the USC Camel website..it kept saying invalid username/password...today it let me login and gave me the option to accept or decline my offer! I hope this means I got in! I'm not going to get excited until I have an actual acceptance letter in my hands..
