strangepeace Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Yup, me, too. I, however, didn't think they had reconsidered...I assumed they wanted to rub salt in the wound. To them I say: you can't take away the joy of post-valentine's chocolate sales, even with your cold-hearted correspondence! Except I don't know if we have those sales here...oh. Okay, haiku time: Ignorance is bliss Before, we begged to differ I take it all back! I'm glad we're passing the time in style. Since it's the only one of my schools releasing at the moment, I offer the following: In limbo I wait Has not shared Ohio State Future Buckeye fate
Megan Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I think if schools send acceptances today, they should come in the form of valentines. Like, Subject Line: Be Columbia's Valentine for the Next 5-8 years! And the acceptance letter inside typed over a big red heart. non humilis mulier and wordshadow 2
whirlibird Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Ah, well, I suppose that this process has not yet sapped me of my optimism. In hindsight, it was silly to assume that they might have reconsidered. At the moment, however, it seemed the best possible explanation. I mean, why wouldn't they? Haha, you make a VERY good point. I should have been much more optimistic. Since it's the only one of my schools releasing at the moment, I offer the following: In limbo I wait Has not shared Ohio State Future Buckeye fate While rhyming is not necessary in haikus, I dig how you pulled it off.
balthasar Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 ... Sorry for not being able to make it more haiku-like jsclar. How about this "Even though i knew OSU was going to reject me after seeing so many acceptances in the results survey, getting the actual rejection still sucks". wordshadow 1
Apill Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Did anyone else get one of these notes? Me too.
RWBG Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 so as much as I hate to interrupt this poetry session which is much nicer than the anxiety we are all enduring, I must ask....... does it seem Rochester is done? 8 or so acceptances posted this year -- only 10 all of last year. It's hard to say, and I don't have any inside info on this, but I was called at around 5pm, which could feasibly have marked the end of their calls for the day. I haven't received an e-mail with official info, which I suspect will follow after they've finished calling everyone. Best of luck! wuerzburg 1
strangepeace Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Has anyone claimed the OSU and JHU acceptances?
wuerzburg Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Its a bloodbath of OSU rejections today......keep the chins up. If it make anybody feel better no doubt when the Princeton results come out it will worse potbellypete 1
iwouldpreferanonymity Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Just spoke with the lovely Ms. Laroche at IU. According to her, the committee will be meeting in the next couple of days, and decisions will be sent via e-mail. I am not sure how many people here have applied to Indiana, but I thought that a few forum members might like to read this news.
wordshadow Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Ohio State just broke my balls, even if it was somewhat expected
catchermiscount Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Re: Rochester, it appears that almost all calls are out (I think two are still left) and that those calls will be made today. Hope this helps. Also, I am being dragged into co-coordinating Rush 2012, so if any Rochester visitors have questions about the visit, feel free to PM me. We're looking forward to a great Rush. Megan Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I have this feeling that at 5 PM Eastern time, things might get a little crazy around here.
kolja00 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I have this feeling that at 5 PM Eastern time, things might get a little crazy around here. I think Thursday will be the big day actually.
Megan Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 By crazy I didn't mean everybody would notify, but I am thinking maybe one or two schools will. I bet Princeton is Thursday, though.

catchermiscount Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Rush at Rochester? Oh, you mean shoveling out your future advisors car after it snows all day... It hasn't been THAT bad. This year has been kind of nuts, really---I doubt we've even had 20 inches this year so far. And this happens the year I decide to trade in my special edition sporty sedan for an SUV. Crap.

[1] http://upload.wikime...rbage_Plate.JPG Garage plates at Rush raise difficult problems. Should you ask to go out for one the first night so that you stink up Harkness Hall on the business day of the visit? Or should you ask to go out for one the second night so that you stink up the airplane on your flight home? Our bathrooms are probably better than an airplane's.

Tallow Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Rejected from UCLA. Top choice. Damn. Subfield is Race, Ethnicity, and Politics/American Politics.
balderdash Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 All right, seriously. I've gotten 3 "someone just searched for you on google"s in the last hour. Not cool, universe. Not cool. By the way, anyone have an interesting Valentine's Day?
PoliSci27 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) All right, seriously. I've gotten 3 "someone just searched for you on google"s in the last hour. Not cool, universe. Not cool. By the way, anyone have an interesting Valentine's Day? Interesting... ? I've been in class for 3 and a half hours. I have 3 hours to go. I just want to go to bed. There was a burst of activity on the board earlier (thanks to some lovely poetry), but as far as entertainment, GradCafe has been failing me the last couple of days. EDIT: BTW, I see a new Rochester acceptance went up. Congrats! Edited February 14, 2012 by PoliSci27
