BigCheese Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 unbelievable... always someone ready to create drama...
plisar Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Come on guys, no need to fight. Schools will get back to us soon enough.
spark25 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Drama is good, especially the quality of "The Bold and the Beautiful"!! I used to watch that non-stop when I was growing up. Anyways, I am realising it really has been a quiet day so far other than the problematic UPenn post.
twright Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 unbelievable... always someone ready to create drama... I'm not interested in any drama. Let's just forget it. No hard feelings.
fenderpete Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 It really has been a quiet day so far other than the problematic UPenn post. Can we get bgk to delete it and then just pretend it didn't happen?

BigCheese Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Can we get bgk to delete it and then just pretend it didn't happen? Yeah i don't know what to think about that post... i really think its bogus..... what do u think?
fenderpete Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Yeah i don't know what to think about that post... i really think its bogus..... what do u think? I'd say bogus because no other ones have gone up, unless the cohort is going to be tiny or none of the other people admitted know about GradCafe - which seems unlikely. I'd say wait and see if anything more turns up later this week, if not we're on for a mid-March UPenn deluge!
AllFiredUp Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The drama on here is nothing compared to the job rumors board for "professional" political scientists. Two words: Camber Warren.
jackassjim Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The drama on here is nothing compared to the job rumors board for "professional" political scientists. Two words: Camber Warren. I heard CW got a job at FSU (they have a rockin' methods program)

spark25 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I just got an acceptance email from Penn at 12:08 so its for real. Congrats! Could you elaborate a but further on the e-mail you received? Was it from a particular professor, any mention about funding, etc...
mgallop Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The email is from the department chair (Ian Lustick), I had had no previous contact with the department. It claims that letters will be mailed out shortly. Hope that helps.

fenderpete Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Congrats.... wooohoo Congrats to the accepted guy. Let the stress commence for the rest of today. I'm yet to hear anything.
ivyreject Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I got my rejection form letter 2/13. It was dated 2/10. Has anyone heard anything from BC? I understand they only enroll 5 students a year, so maybe they only admit 10-15 out of a field of ??? applicants... This was my first notifcation, so I'm officially 0 for 1 with 6 to go. Just wondering if there's anyone else out there who applied to BC. It was my safety school - so much for that.

A friend of mine currently at Michigan was rejected by BC, too. I wouldn't worry too much, I don't think it's a good measuring stick for how you'll do with your other applications.
jamesmadison Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 why can't schools just set an exact date that emails will go out. i'm pretty sure this process violates the geneva conventions.
truckasaurus Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Just got an e-mail from Penn saying that I was admitted, but I was on a waitlist for funding, but that I couldn't matriculate without funding. So...that means I'm waitlisted? You all seem to be much better informed about all this than I am.

It means that at the moment, you are more than welcome to attend, but we will not give you a cent to-do-so...however, if the funds open up, we may do that.
