catchermiscount Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I just got a phone call from a professor at University of Michigan, telling me I got accepted. He told me that they're admitting 25 students this year and are expecting 15. It seemed like it was a very informal phone call, but students weekend is March 13-15. yaaay! Yowza! Super duper congrats! EDIT: Anybody else notice that we've now seen email, snailmail, and telephone acceptances? Talk about methodological pluralism...

k314 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 dang 800V. so you're that *dot* in that score distribution curve on those GRE graphs. gonna get noticed friend, gonna get noticed. theory? american? tortured mix of IR and comparative with some theory thrown in for good measure. my guess was that princeton's public law concentration would be the best fit for me, but who knows if they'll feel the same way...
DrRockso Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 And the UMD admits start trickin' in..... Not on that wagon yet, it seems....
rlayla Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 good luck all those waiting on michigan! Also, it seems princeton has broken the seal. They're early this year!
plisar Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It looks like the obligatory Berkeley rejections are coming out in full force now.
cjh19 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 t looks like the obligatory Berkeley rejections are coming out in full force now. Indeed they are. First official rejection. My signature used to be so full of hope and promise!
BigCheese Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Has anyone heard(meaning the people who didn't receive an email) from Upenn? i'm wondering if there is any hope for me...
mdnicx42 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Do you all think UCLA sent out all of its admits yet? I saw a lot of admits, rejections, and waitlisted folks but I have heard nothing...
gradster Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 The Columbia faculty met today. News will most likely be coming to the admits early next week.
BigCheese Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 The Columbia faculty met today. News will most likely be coming to the admits early next week. Yikes!!!!
PoliSci Guy Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 The Columbia faculty met today. News will most likely be coming to the admits early next week. Ohmygod!Ohmygod!Ohmygod! I've been rejected by Yale and Emory so far so I'm nervous about Columbia. BUT, I know that of all of the schools I've applied to Columbia is a PERFECT fit for my research interests. I just hope they agree!!! Edit: Please forgive the shrieking nature of the beginning of my post and the unforgivable use of caps. I'm just very nervous/excited about Columbia.

LeftCoast Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Another day down with nothing. This process is making me more neurotic than normal.
AllFiredUp Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 The Columbia faculty met today. News will most likely be coming to the admits early next week. Question, gradster: do they meet plenary or do the sub-fields decide on their own admits beforehand?
polisci applicant Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Just as an FYI for those waiting on Princeton, I received an acceptance email about an hour ago, so they must now be going out. Good luck.
PoliSci Guy Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Thanks, everyone! May we all get into our #1's
Billy1 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I predict Harvard will say nothing until Monday. I don't have any evidence, just got a feelin Any others?
billiam345 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 In at Princeton! AMAZING. I'm a theorist who wants to do global justice so there's definitely nowhere I'd rather be. I'll be turning down my UVA offer shortly so hopefully that helps someone on the waitlist.
montage Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 congratulations to michigan peeps, rlayla, and all! PM me if you have question about the department..
