Sure.

My field is condensed matter physics. My proposal was on organic photovoltaics. I think I did a pretty good job putting it together. The location of tenure was also well justified (I think that part is also quite important and some applicants don't give it that much thought).

At the time of application I had 6 journal articles (5 first author) and 1 accepted. Also a lot of conference presentations (at least 2 per year) and pretty good work experience from my undergrad.

I had received a CGS-D2 during my PhD.

I'm not too surpised I didn't get it. It's very competitive and there are people out there in the double digits for 1st author pubs.

Its either highly competetive or its poorly funded by the government. It seems to me that it is due to the second reason why you were not selected.

I am in Massachusetts and hoping for a letter on Monday too!!! The US post delivers on Apr 6, 7 and 9th this year. (In the US, there is mail delivery Mon - Sat and no holidays for Easter).

Wow - I just moved to Washington, and didn't even think to check my mail box on a Saturday down here. I was hoping for a Monday delivery, but that'd be sweet to hear earlier! :)

Hey guys,

I am in Toronto and got my letter today. I applied for a PDF and got rejected. The letter does not say anything about the IRDF, does that mean I could not get that either?

I am sorry to hear about the outcome of your application. The IRDF scholarship is given (according to their definition) to applicants whose application were worth for NSERC PDF award but NSERC did not have enough funds to support for PDF. However, I hope some one in this forum have better answer for your question. I am wondering which field of study were you pusuing during your PhD study?

I have similar situation like yours, just got rejection letter with few sentences and no reports of evaluation or anything about a waiting list. This means that, in their opinion our applications were not worth the paper they were printed on, right?

Thanks winter 2012. I am not sad though, as I decided not to pursue a post-doc anyways. I was just hoping that they included some information about the IRDF in the letter (I was looking forward to that).

I am doing my PhD in pure math.

yeah, or the ink :) it is almost like they are saying "call/e-mail and disturb us to get more information".

Hi Everyone,

I found out from somebody in my department that I got a CGS-D today.

I am at McGill and have not received anything in the mail yet.

It was very nice to find this forum and get some information from all of you about what's going on as I was starting to wonder when it was already April and we didn't know yet!

Good luck to everyone who is still anxiously waiting for the results!

I got wait listed for PDF, does anyone know what is the possibility of getting an award in June?

Hi marmoor,

I'm in the same situation as you: wait-listed and wondering what my chances are of getting good news in June.

I don't recall anyone on this forum saying they got PDF. Anyone? anyone...?

Hi Sandbag,

Which university are you from? Is there anyway we could know what is our rank in the waitlist and what is our chances in getting the award?
