Major(s): Musicology, French and Francophone Studies

Type of Student: domestic, male, one year out of undergrad

Research Experience: 3 funded summer research projects during undergrad (one on a Muslim vocal music tradition, one on Muslim bloc voting in France, one on orientalism in contemporary Tunisia), course research papers related to each of my research interests below

Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Dean's list every semester, department scholarships, honor societies, award given to 40 graduating seniors based on involvement and academic performance

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: summer internships at the Human Rights Campaign and State Dept (EUR), about to start a full-time job at the State Department covering European Muslim issues, lots of extracurriculars (editor in chief of a newspaper, high positions in student government, lots of music stuff, etc.)

Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help: very clear focus on European (esp. French) Muslim issues from different angles (ethnomusicology, sociology, political science, literature) that I hope will appeal to interdisciplinary programs

Special Bonus Points: solid recs from people at State (one of whom is a Harvard MES alum), LGBT
