honeybrew Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Looks like someone posted an acceptance from Denver. Anyone here?? Congrats!! Edited February 14, 2012 by honeybrew
Tabz Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I was just coming to say congrats to whoever it was! So.. congrats if you're here!
poeteer Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 Dammit I wish I had applied to Denver now. I decided not at the last minute, but I think I might have fit in there. Oh well.
desipoet Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I wanted to apply, but what's the point? I can't move there. :-(
poeteer Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) It would be really great if the newest Missouri acceptee from the survey identified the genre in which he or she was accepted.... are you out there? Edited February 16, 2012 by poeteer
poeteer Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 also, congrats on your acceptance, whatever genre. I am just seriously losing it, in my own little world. It's hard to accept the first implicit rejection without an acceptance to keep you grounded. My first school and I'm already in Worst Case Scenario mode.

Oh, I live in Chicago and my husband has a stable job (while I am unemployed and on one of those immigrant visas that doesn't allow me to work), which means UIC is my only hope.
poeteer Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Oh. my. god. WHY are they taking so long? I'm dying.
Stately Plump Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) I'm not applying to creative writing programs, but I do love creative writing. I just wanted to send you all some love! <3 <3 <3 Edited February 19, 2012 by Stately Plump
desipoet Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I'm not applying to creative writing programs, but I do love creative writing. I just wanted to send you all some love! <3 <3 <3 Thank you so much, Stately Plump! Sending lots of lit-love your way as well!
desipoet Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Oh. my. god. WHY are they taking so long? I'm dying. MFA decisions have been made in the school I went to. SERIOUSLY. I am shuddering at the prospect of my POI poring over each word in my poems and shaking her head.
Captain Enjambment Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Some news: I just checked my status, as I have been off and on, at UI-Chicago and I was "denied." I didn't get an email notifying me to check it or anything. Anyone else seeing this?
vonteity Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Hi all. Just joined today after a couple of weeks of not being able to stand the wait. I applied to UIC, SUNY Albany, USC, and DU. I'm curious about GRE and Lit GRE scores... Did everyone else do fine on the GRE but bomb the Lit GRE? If so, thank God. God, yes. My undergrad wasn't in English, and since I'm finishing up an MA in writing, my contemporary knowledge is good, but not the classics. I scored a 90% on my verbal GRE and a dismal 23% on my Literature subject test. It's so terrible it's almost funny, in a way. I applied to USC and University of Denver as well as some other Literature programs without a creative focus. Maybe they won't pay too much attention to the subject test... desipoet Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Oh. my. god. WHY are they taking so long? I'm dying. Poeteer, my friend has been waitlisted at Texas Tech. Will keep updating, but I don't want to post on the results forum.
poeteer Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 thanks! sounds like she's having a good season. I didn't apply there (for me: Utah, Houston, Missouri, FSU, and USC) but I almost did. They're supposed to have good funding for the area. still no news today. yet. stress!
desipoet Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Yep. And she said she hasn't heard back from Missouri either. I am totally stressed out too. One school= BAD, BAD ODDS. Edited February 24, 2012 by desipoet
poeteer Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Well, it's good that you haven't been rejected yet, right? Since insertbrackets was rejected by the website already (sorry, insertbrackets ) . Good luck!
desipoet Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) I did give in and mail the grad coordinator. He informed me I was not accepted. Good luck to everyone else! This wraps up the season for me. Edited February 24, 2012 by desipoet
Dagny1984 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 When do you think we will hear from SUNY Albany?
poeteer Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 re: the results board, why do you think Utah took four poets and only two fiction writers? that seems somewhat lopsided. I always thought programs accepted equal amounts poetry and fiction.
Vertigo23 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Utah creative tends to take whoever they're interested in. They're flexible on the numbers.
Captain Enjambment Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Two things: 1) there's a facebook group for CW PhD applicants someone started. Join if you like! http://www.facebook.com/groups/192118044227048/ 2) Florida State started making calls last night (at least two confirmed via the facebook group)--they have a bigger cohort, though, so more calls should be going out (fingers crossed!)
