ecritdansleau Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 For the record, I just received confirmation in the mail of the extra score reports I ordered the week of December 12th for the Nov 12th subject test--ETS has given me every reason to believe that my score reports are not showing up blank (the score report says my score even though it wasn't posted online yet). Although the ETS employee who told someone else that "the scores will show up blank on score reports until the test shows up online" makes me wonder. It's hard to figure what's worse: that ETS would convince me the score reports are just fine when they are showing up blank, or that the ETS employee unnecessarily convinced an applicant to buy a load of every score reports!? I'm just hoping everything turns out alright.
cquin Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Merry Christmas from ETS! When I log into my account, I see the name of one of my schools with two asterisks next to it. The asterisks indicate: ** Score recipient not valid/active So...does that mean they did not receive my scores? Even though I am POSITIVE I entered the correct school and department code.
LivePoetry123 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 cquin, I have the same problem. I emailed ETS about it a few days ago, so I'll let you know if I hear anything useful back from them. (ETS is lucky that I'm living outside the USA right now which makes it impossible for me to actually call them on the phone and scream at them :/ )
PoeHo Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 When I log into my account, I see the name of one of my schools with two asterisks next to it. The asterisks indicate: ** Score recipient not valid/active So...does that mean they did not receive my scores? Even though I am POSITIVE I entered the correct school and department code. Is this, by any chance, a school that did not require the subject test? One of my schools shows up this way too because, although it did not require the subject test, I thought I had to enter it as one of the schools I wanted my scores sent to when I registered for the literature test (since the option to send only general test scores was given, I thought I would be overriding my original 4 selections if I entered a different school). If this is the case, then the school is showing up as "invalid" under subject test because you selected "general scores only."
pinkrobot Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 (edited) Hi team, I had the score recipient not valid/active problem, too, and so did a few people on the GRE forum. I called ETS about this a couple weeks ago and posted this on the GRE forum: "I had the same problem and called ETS today. I had requested four additional score reports for my general GRE scores; my subject GRE scores (test taken on Nov. 12) were not available at the time that I ordered those score reports (and in fact are still not available!). The ETS representative told me that when you order score reports AND have taken a test for which the scores are not available, those two stars show up regardless of whether or not you are trying to send those unavailable scores. (The legend "Score recipient not valid/active" seems misleading: in this case it has nothing to do with the score recipient at all.) So, my general GRE scores went without problems to the four score recipients I designated on the date that ETS states they were sent, just like I requested; the two stars are there because my subject test scores, which I had not been trying to send anyway, are still unavailable. Does this make any sense? (It may also help you to know that before I called ETS I checked my bank account to see if the amount of the transaction had been deducted; it had, and there was no refund of any kind. If the same holds true for you, you are likely in the clear.)" Edited to add: on the topic of subject score transmission issues--since I made that last post, my GRE subject scores became available by phone. I waited until after I got them by phone to send them (the system actually didn't let me send them before that), but not until after they became available online. The subject scores were sent to the schools I sent them to (confirmed via mail from ETS and via status updates from my submitted applications). So I think as long as you waited until after the scores came out by phone to send them, they should have arrived okay. Major sympathies to those of you with the blank score report problem: that's analogous to ordering a sweater which turns out to be out-of-stock, receiving an empty box, and being charged for the sweater anyway! Good luck. Edited December 26, 2011 by pinkrobot ecritdansleau 1
cquin Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Thanks, pinkrobot. I think that clears it up. I retook the general but not subject, and I was submitting my subject scores to schools that require. So, based on your info, I'm guessing it says that the score recipient is not valid/active because my new general score is not available... Right? Yikes, I don't know, this is all so unnecessarily confusing and annoying.
lolopixie Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I am so glad that I didn't have to take the subject test. This thread just makes me furious for everyone.
