Grunty DaGnome Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I'm nothing but busy. It makes both working and waiting harder than it otherwise would be. I'd much rather be running, powerlifting, taking a class and cleaning my house. Anything but a desk job.
Kitkat Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Being unteatherd to a computer would be so much nicer in that respect. I feel that I am given to many opportunites to get to a compter myself, to check if there is any news.
socihealth Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 all of the runners on here are so inspiring!
GreenePony Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 all of the runners on here are so inspiring! Agreed! If only my hips/knees/ankles weren't that of an 80 year old woman I might join them... stupid genetics.
antecedent Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I'm nothing but busy. It makes both working and waiting harder than it otherwise would be. I'd much rather be running, powerlifting, taking a class and cleaning my house. Anything but a desk job. I thought a full-time desk job and race training would be enough to make waiting endurable. It turns out even with what feels like a considerable spare time deficit I still manage to fret obsessively. Is there a thread for "I fucking hate my job"? I feel like we should start one. I know I'm lucky to be employed in this economy but I actually never imagined a job could make me this miserable.

quantitative Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) I'm learning to drive for the first time! Hoping i can get my license before I head off to my doctoral program! Otherwise, I'm just taking a mental break from school until a conference/school visits. I'm burning through my pleasure reading list that had grown to 60+ books (and a few in my field!). I'm still really impatient, but at least I'm enjoying my time until the craziness starts! You guys are inspiring me to start running again... Probably a good idea before the stress of grad school makes me eat my weight in chocolate! Edited January 30, 2012 by quantitative
Clou12 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I am working on a documentary based on my research and I have no experience at all in making movies. So reading up on how to make one and writing a script/outline now. Meeting with my film crew tomorrow to discuss logistics. I mean who knew documentaries had scripts? This project is going to keep me busy for the next few months for sure. On top of that ambitious goal, I am still working full-time, volunteering and running a non-profit as well. So it would seem I wouldn't have time to be on these forums...yeah right. I always have time for Grad Cafe'!
sleepycat Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 reading the stack of 12 sociology/theory books seems only to grow instead of shrink and finally doing some personal fiction reading.
Kitkat Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 So the classes that I am taking seem to think that I should be doing a lot of reading this semester. Not a bad way to keep busy. ;-)
