cokohlik Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I've always wondered - do all acceptance letters come with details about what type of fellowship/stipend is being offered to you, or does that information come separate? What do you do if you want to compare offers but just one has financial details, and one doesn't, so you can't really make an informed decision?
anthropologygeek Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 They can come either with the acceptance or a month or two after
cokohlik Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 They can come either with the acceptance or a month or two after That sucks. If they came a month or two after, I'd be bugging the department until I got an answer because how could they expect anyone to make a decision without knowing about funding? Weird. Hoping for the "with" or "month after" (e.g. by April 15! ) Thanks!
starmaker Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 If one offer has financial details and the other doesn't, you might be able to pressure the one that didn't into offering you more money (if they really like you) by informing them of the other place's financial offer.
anthropologygeek Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Well, most of time when they don't come with is because they notify you within two weeks of the deadline and in the letter says that ga/ta will come later and gives a date long before April.
rising_star Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Pretty much what anthropologygeek said. You may get an acceptance now, with funding information being available at the end of February, for example, after the University-wide fellowships have been given out. Unless you are on the waitlist, you will hear about funding and admission before April 15.
