kgumps2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I am so very excited to be attending OSU for a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Integrated Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program IBGP). I can't wait to find an apartment and move in at the beginning of June!
POG0628 Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Fantastic! Are you going to be starting your research in June?
peacebyinches Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Hey fellow buckeyes, I just accepted my offer, will be in cognitive psychology.
kgumps2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Fantastic! Are you going to be starting your research in June? Yeah. I am graduating from an MS program in May so it just makes sense for me to keep going and do a rotation in june.
Ladril Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I'll be attending OSU for a PhD in Sociology this Fall.
XianAer Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Congratulations to all! I'm starting up MA/PhD studies in English at OSU this fall--I went to the new student open house a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it!!!
kgumps2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 If anyone is looking for housing in the OSU area, I just visited this weekend to find a place and know a few decent apartments that aren't too bad for the budget. Be aware they are filling up fast!
Jbate002 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Where did you look? I am really worried about finding housing and cant afford to go out there until my program starts.
TMP Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Yipes! I am going to move in 3ish weeks to start looking for housing and sign on something for June 1st. I wish I could take a 2 BR apartment and get a roommate but I'll be off the Internet over the summer. Just can't risk not getting a roommate before the end of June but if someone is looking for a roommate already, definitely PM me Otherwise, I'm looking at studios/1 BRs. I'll be in the History PhD program SO excited!
kgumps2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Olentangy Commons and Fox and Hound are nice but about a 10-15 minute drive to campus. COTA buses stop right outside these complex communities. MGI communities has several complexes under their name and are generally much closer to campus, however the apartments are older. Good luck finding housing!
Gwendolyn Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Reading this thread makes me anxious to find housing. I know I'll be visiting at the end of the March, but I don't know what my housing outlooks will be by then
nugget3 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Hey! I was accepted for a master's in mathematics! Haven't heard back from other schools yet, but I am excited to have the potential to go to Ohio State! As for housing - have you guys read the Columbus thread in the City Guide forum yet? It's got tons of good tips. A lot of the locals make it sound like it's possible to find housing in the grad student areas even in the summertime... so that's what I plan on doing, since I can't visit beforehand (I live in Sweden currently).Congrats to everyone who got in!
Human Nature Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Hey there, Just wanted to see who else was heading to OSU for 2013, as most of this thread is from last year. Anybody been to visit? I'm heading out in a few weeks and was wondering if there were any things that you absolutely needed to check out when visiting Columbus.
ayashe Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I agreed to go to a PhD program at OSU! Looking for apartments where graduate students can live now.
nugget3 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I'm also heading to OSU in the fall! And looking for apartments... this doesn't seem like it will be easy.
your humble servant Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I'm happy to join in on the housing search too. Going to OSU for PhD in Political Science! Really excited about. So much so that I watched a series of Columbus' historical neighborhoods, including Victorian Village, Short North, Downtown, University District, etc. Yeah, I couldn't help it.
nugget3 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 your humble servant, that series sounds really interesting! What's it called? I've never visited Columbus before, so it would be cool to see the city from a historical perspective.
your humble servant Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 There are 6 episodes. Youtube "Columbus Neighborhoods" and you will see the series. Each are about an hour long.
Reglidtra Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 For OSU grad students looking for a place to live, and/or find a roommate, there are resources on their website that assist with those activities. You might want to check it out.
NickODell148 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ph.D. Cognitive Psychology. Looking for a place to live and football season tickets! Go Buckeyes
