R. Mutt Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) Interview, tour and reception (open bar) - Who's going? What hotel are you guys staying at? Edited February 22, 2012 by R. Mutt
nicl722 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Does this mean people who didn't receive any notifications are actually rejected and the school is just too lazy to send out the rejections?
zecchi Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Interview, tour and reception (open bar) - Who's going? What hotel are you guys staying at? Whoa, whoa, there is an open bar?! Where did you hear that?
kazoo Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I will be there! And yes, there is an "Interview Weekend Reception" with profs, students and an open bar (it said so in the interview details email).
zecchi Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Where are people staying? I am looking for a place to stay/ a hotel room to split!
R. Mutt Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 I Where are people staying? I am looking for a place to stay/ a hotel room to split! not sure yet, I'll be buying my ticket and room together on travelosity soon - I'll let you all know
michaelwebster Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 If you haven't heard from SAIC yet, then yes, I think you're out of luck, unfortunately. For those that are coming up, especially in sculpture, art&tech, fibers, or anyone else, the sculpture dept. is thowing an apartment show that night that includes people from many departments. Its called Domain and Range, pm me and I will send you the address. The open bar in Sullivan galleries is just the warm up for the exhibition.
l'artiste Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Hey, do you know what's going on with the Film/Video/New Media dept.? Do they not have an open house etc. because the don't have interviews? I'm just getting worried because I haven't heard from them! Thanks!

You could still be in the running for that dept, but I don't know. I know performance doesn't interview but they send out notifications early, around Feb 1.
Maybemaroon Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Hi. I'm also going to SAIC photo interviews and events! There's a list of hotels on the SAIC website that's helpful. Some have special rates for SAIC.
R. Mutt Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 staying at the Best Western River North, Friday and Saturday night - SAIC rate $95 a night
hdsl Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Hey, do you know what's going on with the Film/Video/New Media dept.? Do they not have an open house etc. because the don't have interviews? I'm just getting worried because I haven't heard from them! Thanks! I don't think they do an open house for that dept. My friend is an SAIC alum in Film/Video/New Media. i think she visited the school after she was accepted and made appointments with profs and offices independently. And you're right, they don't do interview for that dept. I would hold tight. fingers crossed for you!
hdsl Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I'll be there for Photo and will be staying with friends. The email I received doesn't mention an open bar, but does say continental breakfast and lunch will be provided (which i'm psyched for because money is tight!). Not sure of what times though. Has anyone received an update on the day's event schedule (tours, dept meetings, etc)? Not that it matters but does anyone know how many interviews are conducted per dept (specifically Photo)? Good luck to everyone!

anataylor Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I'm so glad I found this thread! Does anyone have any insights on who we will be interviewing with tomorrow (students, faculty etc)?
michaelwebster Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I'm so glad I found this thread! Does anyone have any insights on who we will be interviewing with tomorrow (students, faculty etc)? Mostly faculty, maybe a grad student too on occasion.
Chachau1 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 How did everyones interview go?! It's so nervewracking because you think the waiting game will start to get easier afterwards but it doesn't. It's also so hard to read those things that all you can do is analyze moments and things you said or didn't
