Canadianlinguist Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I am Canadian, and partly because my parents live in the middle of no where, and partly because of the fact that American schools get out three weeks latter then Canadian schools. If I go home this summer I can't work. So I applied for OPT (allows me to work in the US for a year. Clearly, I am going (or praying to go) to school in the fall, however i want-need a summer job. ALso, OPT requires, (like all working visas in the U.S) that you work in your field. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any linguistic or wiritng, or education related (keep in mind I don't have a teaching liscence) jobs-internships. Looking sucks so I would be beyond appreciative of any help you guys could give me! Thanks!!

Canadianlinguist Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 I acutally just applied their Triple Tall Capicino (one of my profs told me about it this morning) , and one of my profs has a connection, he says I have a shot but its competitive....but I was just wondering do you know if its usually paid? I mean there was a question on the form asking about compensation but I was confused.....and are expensescovered? If you don't know thats ok....I was jw
Triple Tall Cappuccino Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Mine wasn't paid, but the amount of experience and connections I made was immeasurable. No, they don't cover expenses. Then again, it depends on which section you work with. I did heritage languages.
Canadianlinguist Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Okay! Thank for the information!! Thats too bad, i'd need expenses covered but I am sure your right I guess it probably depends...and I am sure its true about connections too!
Shan Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Center for Applied Linguistics! Hi! it is a very good suggestion. I am in the same shoes as Wame0601. I think I will also apply to the internship there. However, I just checked their website, and they say the application should be submitted no later than March 1st. I hope they will still accept applications.
