waitinginvain?
I submitted this post under a different heading, but thought it would be more applicable here. I applied for the MFA in playwriting at ASU. Their web page said recommendations were made by March 15th. I see on the survey results page that someone was accepted into the program on March 2nd. My status still says "in review." I read somewhere that schools choose their top candidates first. I can infer that I'm not one of them. But is there still a chance I'll get accepted? I should add that I have my BA from ASU; I graduated summa cum laude, and I have taken an independent study class with the professor who now heads the program. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!
ANDS!
If you have such a relationship with the grad director, can you not just ask him directly what is the story?
waitinginvain?
Is that allowable?

waitinginvain?
Thank you. I'll get the nerve and contact the graduate director tomorrow--if I'm not notified by then. Good luck to you, too!
waitinginvain?
I contacted the school and received a reply that they are waiting on a response from another candidate and that (his/her response) "will shift things around a little." In other words, it's still a waiting game. I should add that the deadline was February 1st, and recommendations were supposed to have been made by March 15th. So, in my case, it's not so late in the game. But I now know, as I suspected, that I am not a top candidate. Oh well. I would consider myself fortunate if I were chosen, whether I was their first or a last choice. I don't care, I would get the same education and opportunities. See I told you you are on the waiting list. Dont think about top candidate or not just hope for breakthrough and being accepted... I'm on the waitinglist in two major institutions for the same reason : funding... Just hoping for the best ... What else can we do beside waiting and hoping for the best.. spunkrag
They very last candidate that gets in the program still gets the same degree when they finish. I wouldn't sweat being a "top" candidate--just because they're a "top ranked" candidate doesn't mean they're better scholars anyhow. nari27
