thanks :-) It's a relief after 7 straight rejects. I started questioning a lot of academic choices I've made over the years, as well as trying to figure out how low I'd have to set my sights next year to get in.

Also, my status has been updated on https://utdirect.utexas.edu/admissions/status_check.WBX. It re-lists the same letter that was sent via email and says they will send an envelope to my permanent address.

The information I received is that the department received around 600 applications, and ~70 offers were made.

The first link tells me my application status. Perhaps if it's still under consideration, you're waitlisted - just a guess anyways.

I was accepted for cs PhD at UT-Austin and neither of the websites shows my status, they say "under revision" and "submitted"

To all those who are still waiting, it might be worth checking with the department. From what I know, our graduate secretary told us that they received around 70 files from the admission committee on the day the acceptance emails were sent out.

The UT Direct website still says my app is being reviewed, the CS dept website has no useful information about status. Are people calling in to check now?

I emailed the dept asking for status and the coordinator responded with the following:

The committee has made about 70 offers and do not expect to be making any more. While they have not fully decided yet, it seems unlikely at this stage that you will be admitted to our PhD program. I've been told that the rest of the PhD decisions are expected to be announced about mid-March.

Nothing has been updated yet for me, though I have three emails from UT-Austin---two from professors and one from the grad advisor, all congratulating me on being admitted( all dated 25th Feb, 2009). I have also had an informal chit-chat full of info about the university and Austin in general with one of the said professors and the other professor is very eager to chat with me as well.

The beauty of the whole thing is that both the professors were open about my decision to join any of the groups working there after joining the school. In fact they have advised me against taking any hasty decisions before informally working with the numerous research groups and finding out what I would really enjoy doing in the long term.

But the grad school website status check still says---

"We have received all credentials required to process your application. Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review.

If you have questions regarding your application status, please contact the Graduate and International Admissions Center .

Thank you for applying to the University of Texas at Austin".

And there is nothing as yet on the department website to say that I've been admitted!

Well, does anyone know how the AI dept. there ranks with respect to those at UMich, UIUC, etc?

Same here. I know I've been rejected. Just wish they would let me know and get it over and done with.

BTW, I checked the box that said something like "if you are rejected for PhD do you wish to be considered for MS?" Maybe they are reviewing some of the apps for MS? (I know, I know, I'm just being really optimistic here, but hope dies hard :mrgreen: )

May I ask about the funding for UVA? I applied there and havent even heard from them yet, I'm just curious about funding since my friend got in there and havent heard about funding yet.
