Revo Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Thanks! The e-mail subject line was descriptively named "Application Status."
robo24wolverine Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Hey errybody! Meant to send this sooner, but I also got in! Hooray! See everyone else on March 23rd?
TexanLex Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Same here, for Higher Education! Still deciding if I'll attend on March 23rd, I'd love to hear back from other schools first so I can determine which ones to visit. Congrats to those admitted!
PhDreams Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Congrats everyone!! The e-mail subject line was descriptively named "Application Status." LOL!! Sneaky, sneaky! Seems like Higher Ed makes their decisions earlier across the board. For those accepted- Was the decision posted in your Friends account? Or was the decision in an email?

For those accepted- Was the decision posted in your Friends account? Or was the decision in an email? The decision was emailed from CSHE. My Friends account didn't immediately update ... I think you have to be officially offered admission by Rackham (after being recommended for admission by CSHE) before your Friend account reflects the admission offer.

I plan to attend the Visitation Day on March 23.* *I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't realize how close Ann Arbor and Detroit were until I was looking for airline tickets. TexanLex: Congrats on being accepted! For Stanford and Harvard, Stanford should have Master's decisions out around March 3-7, give or take a few days, and Harvard should have Master's decisions out by March 11, give or take a few days.
robo24wolverine Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 *I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't realize how close Ann Arbor and Detroit were until I was looking for airline tickets. Well, DTW is not actually in Detroit. It's in Romulus, which is only like 25 mins away from AA. Detroit itself is about 50-60 mins away from AA.
michigan girl Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) ^ Detroit (proper) is actually 45 miles (48 minutes) away from Ann Arbor. Of course, it's a longer trip if you're coming from the far north and northeast suburbs. Revo, why are you ashamed? Most U-M students do not drive to Detroit unless they are visiting family, friends, work and special events. Edited February 15, 2012 by michigan girl

Most U-M students do not drive to Detroit unless they are visiting family, friends, work and special events. I definitely had Ann Arbor a lot farther west of Detroit in my mind until I looked at the map. [My only direct experience with the State of Michigan is a detoured Amtrak train and a 5-minute connection at DTW]. On an unrelated note, I was pleasantly surprised by how many (and somewhat varied) CSHPE internship options are currently posted. Edited February 15, 2012 by Revo
michigan girl Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 ^ Ann Arbor is located within Southeast Michigan. While Ann Arbor is not considered a suburb of Detroit, it is within Detroit's sphere of influence (radio, print and broadcast media is Detroit-based) and the closest airport is Detroit-Wayne Metropolitan Airport.

TexanLex Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Darn! Just realized that the March 23 visit day conflicts with a conference I'll be attending, so I can't go
PhDreams Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 What program are you for? Educational Studies. Do you guys have a Graduate Conference the day before too?
robo24wolverine Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Educational Studies. Do you guys have a Graduate Conference the day before too? Not that I'm aware of.
PhDreams Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hello, I am in, MA in Learning and Teaching. I have been notified by e-mail, and have talked to Prof. Mary Schleppegrell by phone, but I haven't gotten my letter yet. I'm waiting to hear back from Berkeley; if that's a no then I am headed to MI! (This is my first post on gradcafe. Super excited to read/post more!) Are you going to the visit in 2 weeks?
PhDreams Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Kinda bummed we go on different days. Hoping to meet some of you.
FloydMurray Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) I'm currently waitlisted for the CPEP @ UMich, anybody else waitlisted or accepting admission to their program??? This is my first gradcafe post! Best, AL Edited March 21, 2012 by FloydMurray
Revo Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 How did everyone feel about their UMich visit? I realize my reply comes a bit late but I had my visit with the higher ed program on March 23. I was very impressed with the program and Michigan. FreedomInEducation 1
PhDreams Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 That's fantastic! it sounds like you've made your decision...
Revo Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 That's fantastic! it sounds like you've made your decision... I've got it mostly narrowed down to Stanford (also had a good visit there) and Michigan ... about 10 days left to decide. FreedomInEducation 1
PhDreams Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Good luck, Revo!! You have two amazing choices in front of you. Please let us know what you decide.
oster14 Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I thought I would revive this post to see if there were others out there who applied to University of Michigan. I applied to the higher education Phd program for Fall 2014. With the December 1 deadline, I believe they will start reviewing applications in January, at least that is my understanding for the higher ed program. Good luck to others who applied this year!

I applied to MIchigan as well! Public Policy in Postsecondary ed program. I guess I don't share your optimism - I think they'll take their sweet time getting back to us!
