twizp Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I have just rejected, with a heavy heart, NYU and Brown.
natofone Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Welcome, Michigan is quite the awesome place, and we don't burn down our town when we win football games... Plisar, I'm shocked! That is hardly a falsifiable theory. To predict Event A (burn city down) will not come after Event B (a big win), Event B must actually have a chance to occur. (i kid!)
AllFiredUp Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I have just rejected, with a heavy heart, NYU and Brown. You are better as friends.
plisar Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I have declined all my remaining offers and I am going to UCSD!

jackassjim Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 You find my excitement puzzling? Great choice plisar. You could not go wrong with either of your options, but this is quite something...
adaptations Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 After looking at that picture, I think we should all go start a poli. sci. commune in San Diego.
plisar Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 After looking at that picture, I think we should all go start a poli. sci. commune in San Diego. That picture makes smile from ear to ear. Bye midwest, hello paradise...and game theory...
plisar Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 You find my excitement puzzling? Great choice plisar. You could not go wrong with either of your options, but this is quite something... Absolutely true, I will go enjoy the beautiful beaches of San Diego, and try not to get eaten by a shark, and you can become a student in my current hometown. it seems like a fair trade!
jackassjim Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Something tells me I'm getting the short end of the stick here  I do come from the Great White North though, so the Michigan winter doesn't scare me too much. Plus, it can be quite pretty too:

adaptations Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Plisar, You really should forgo the PhD for the meantime. Do a masters first - that way you can have the fun of applying again
plisar Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Oh dear god, no. I am never doing this again...well until I hit the job market I suppose. Five year contracts are fabulous.
aria880 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I turned down Illinois and committed to OSU. Go Buckeyes!
