Mos def call or at least e-mail. They get back to you pretty fast, they made a mistake on my "to do list" once. I emailed them and it was fixed within a couple days.

My faith is gone :( Congrats to you all that got in! March was the deadline to get in and April is just back up apps that "might" get in. Unfortunately I called the dept and someone picked up that was not Molly. I asked them if they still admitted ppl in until mid to end of April and she said they do but it's not a lot. Only a a few are offered admission. Blahhhhhh you guys deserve the admission. Sassa and stender had much more experience than I did and its directly in the SW field.

Here's to another week of quadruple fingers cross lol

It's coming! Have faith!

Don't lose faith! "Might" is still a chance. Did you apply to other schools?

Signature changed :D now just waiting for my admission to be processed so I can finally "view app status" and see "Accepted" instead of "Referred to Grad Dept" lol

BTW, any of you who are planning to enroll at SJSU feel free to PM me and add me on FB if you're comfortable.  I'd like to start networking before getting there since it's been a couple of years since I've been back to San Jose.

Hi, I'm new here. I stumbled across this site looking for SJSU MSW applicants.  I have been accepted to SJSU's MSW program. Field of practice: Aging.  Are there any other Aging students here that will be attending SJSU in the Fall?

Didn't apply anywhere else unfortunately... Was going to but I backed out on the other because I did not want to attend that University... Now that I thought about it... I should have just applied. What really sucks is that I emailed Dr. Goldman before open enrollment started with my stats and he "really recommended that I apply" as if I'm a sure in... Blahhhh lies!

Congratulations on your acceptance! My field of practice is health and mental health concentration but have experience in the aging field. I will also be attending in the fall.

Congratulations to you, too! I'm excited to start.  Although we have a different field of practice, we will probably have foundation classes together.  :)

I just heard from SFSU! Which one to pick?? SJSU vs. SFSU

Not gonna lie, while checking out both programs I'm still super excited to be at SJSU-- but SFSU just seems like such a neat program and I'm a huge fan of the City.  Going to school there would be awesome.

A group of people also agreed with you that I should totally go to SFSU instead...! I already confirmed my intent to enroll with SJSU... but I guess I'll have to let them know that I might change my mind. Thanks for your input!

I wish I had better input than just "I like San Francisco" so don't thank me on that account LOL

In seriousness, what's really the school you're just feeling the right vibe towards?  I mean, it might sound very "helping professional" cliche but what's feeling right?  I notice on this forum that others wanting to get into social work also take a practical approach to the numbers (cost), location, etc. but it's definitely a gut feeling as to program.  Would I have loved going to Sweden for the anthropology program? HELL YEAH!  But my gut said stick with SJSU and fortunately my "practicals" list stood on the same side as my gut feeling.

SFSU seems VERY social justice oriented which is what drew me to their program though I didn't apply.  My thoughts though are that if I really want to be up in SF more (did a service learning trip to SF that has me begging to do field placements there) I can still do that with SJSU if they're willing to place me in one of there few placements up in the City.  I wanted SJSU also because of  location; being closer to SJSU I knew I'd be able to spend more time on campus being involved and taking advantage of that rather than spending lots of time just on transportation to and from SF (because I'd still live in San Jose).  How about for you?  Do you live close to SFSU? Maybe location is something to consider.  Good luck either way.  You most definitely deserve either spot :)

Update for SJSU to those still awaiting admission or just news:

440 applicants for the MSW program

There are a total of 160 spots open.

80 of those spots have officially been accepted by applicants.

Phone calls are given to those whose application are considered "highly qualified"

Emails are given to those who they believe are "not the best but would be a great fit for the program"

7 professors are currently going over applications.

Should all be reviewed by mid April.

Interesting.  Thanks. But what about those of us that received a phone call AND an email?  Where does that put us? "highly qualified" or "not the best"?  How did you get these numbers?  For everyone still waiting to hear, I hope tomorrow is your acceptance day!  :)

Talked to Molly from the dept and got those numbers. A phone call is "highly qualified" after that they send you an email to accept their offer. So that would put you there.
