lalalalala2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I received an email from the Peabody School at Vanderbilt University today, inviting me to attend their Masters' Visitation Day. It began with "Congratulations! You've been admitted to a master's program at Vanderbilt's Peabody College!" Then, it goes on to talk about the Masters' Visitation Day. I have not received any other form of acceptance from them, so this just seemed odd to me...especially since the title of the email is about the visitation day and not about the acceptance decision. Did this happen to anyone else? Is it an acceptance, or just an invitation? SMF711 1
fuzzylogician Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 The email explicitly says you were accepted...so you're accepted, not just invited for a visitation day. Congrats!
musicmage09 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 The letter seems pretty generic "you've been admitted to a masters program," but it also says "you've been admitted to a masters program." Feel free to email your POI about the acceptance. Congrats!
gubidal092 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 That is interesting, that you haven't received an official acceptance. But, this seems to imply you have been accepted. With my undergrad applications, I was notified that I received scholarships at the schools I applied to before being mailed an acceptance letter. Sometimes the letters get sent a bit out of order. But, if you're worried about not receiving information about your acceptance, such as possible funding situations, then you can always email your department or the graduate studies department and explain that you've never received official notification.
ay761 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I recieved this email too, and I definitely took it as an acceptance... so congrats! I just assume we haven't heard about funding yet. I applied to several PhD programs (that I haven't heard back from) and applied to this MA program to have a back up option... so I am not in a big rush for them to give me information on financial aid. It is nice to know I have an option open for next year, though!
SMF711 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I also received this e-mail yesterday, and I am pretty confused about it as well. Because it is so generic, I don't want to get too excited, so I hope to get the official email or packet in the mail soon. Sadly, I can't make it to the Visitation day but I look forward to hearing more about it from anyone who attends!
ay761 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Hmm well it says, "Congratulations! You've been admitted to a master's program at Vanderbilt's Peabody College!" ... I don't think that can mean anything other than an acceptance.
Breakonthrough007 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 You guys are lucky! I'm going to the visitation day as well, but my interview is on that day. I guess this means it's going to be a lot of accepted students and a few of us Human Development Counseling applicants being a big ball of nerves. Congratulations on the admission!!
hmtrow Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I received the same email as well. I believe it is an acceptance and just says "a master's program" because the email just comes from Peabody graduate school in general. I'm betting we'll get an actual letter in the mail sometime soon.
SMF711 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I emailed the Assistant Director Graduate Admissions and Financial Aid to RSVP for the Professional Student Visitation Day, as well as to get clarification about the acceptance, and she told me that I have been admitted and the formal letter will be sent in the mail in the upcoming weeks. Excited!
hmtrow Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I am checking my mail every day when I get home, and I now hate junk mail more than ever because it gets my hopes up. Even though I know I'm accepted there's just something about getting an official letter that will make it even better!
EdYouKateOr Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Congratulations to you all on your acceptances!
