I had to do a skype interview for PTS. I took out a legal pad and wrote out my answers to the questions I anticipated they'd ask, such as: Why theology? Why here? What are you interested? etc. I also wrote out some question that I had for the interviewer. For example, as a non-Presbyterian I had some questions relating to my "fit" there and PTS's committment to ecumenicalism.

Best of luck! Praying for you.

Make sure you set up your environment appropriately, sit somewhere that looks professional or studious, make sure you will not be disturbed under any circumstances (if you have dogs, get them out,) and dress yourself as if you were interviewing in person. Not the same thing, but for a graduate-level workshop for my last degree, one participant skyped in. From her teen daughter's bedroom. Where the girl was still sleeping. 5 minutes into the discussion, the kid got out of bed wearing a bra and panties and walked across the background. Awkward. And inappropriate. 30 seconds later the instructor "lost the connection." Anyway, good luck tomorrow. Prayers. Am I right in thinking this is your first choice?

Thanks. He told me what you've been telling me all along -- that my GRE and seminary grads far outweigh my poor undergrad performance. The entire thing took about 20 minutes, and felt a little pro forma. All we did was discuss what I wanted out of graduate school, why I wanted to attend BC specifically and study for the MTS specifically, and what I want to do with my degree in a ministerial sense, considering their emphasis on real-world practical application.

I asked a few practical questions about research possibilities, publishing by students, and accommodation for my autism, which he seemed to think would be pretty easy to work out.

im so happy for you, all the contact that i have made with BC has been extremely satisfactory. it seems like it is a really nice place to enter into religious study.

I thought they were done with interviews. I was told the admissions board was meeting last Friday. Strange. What program are you applying for?

I think general interview advice applies. Calm down, make sure you've got ready answers, and *make sure you have good questions for them*.

The big question I got asked at my interview was what, exactly, I was interested in doing with my degree. BC places a big emphasis on practical theology, so they want to know how you want to minister to the wider church.

I'm applying for the MTS. The application deadline was last Friday, maybe they did an initial meeting to weed out the people they didn't even want to consider?

Even though I didn't interview with BC, I think that maybe a hip flask of single malt might help.

To be sure; also, no pants, obviously.

Weird. I dunno what's goin' on, then. Either way, I hope I was helpful.

Does anybody have any idea what's going on with BC's interview process? I had been told the admissions committee was meeting the 15th, but that was also the application deadline, and they seem to still be giving out interviews.
