With the emergence of the ‘global age’, have we witnessed the end of ‘ideology’?

Hello everyone I am a first year university student and I am in an intro Political Science class. My final essay is the question listed above, I was wondering what everyones educated opinion/facts/ideas were??

I will give you props for trying to get an answer from us. I would love to answer this question for you, but then it would enter a whole different level of crazy that your professor would know that a first year did not answer this question. I must stress don't pull any "end of history" crap from Fukuyama. Read some David Held stuff. You should also read some Mackinder and Angell - just because I think they are important to understand the development of the "international," but at your level you probably wouldn't understand it. 

My answer to that question would be no. "global age" is an odd term... because what is considered "global" has changed and is something different for everyone.  You need to think about whether we are seeing globalization or a revert back to regionalism. 

 

There is no "wrong" answer to this question. Just pick a position and back it up with evidence.

You could use US hegemony (soft power), terrorism, etc., as cases to support your theoretical position. Anyway, I think I've helped you enough. This question really isn't that difficult.

This is a whole new level of lazyness in freshman. I could see how if you posted what you thought and asked for opinions..but to just come and blindly ask the question, is super lazy.

I see why no one cares about teaching these days. Students are lazy and do not try to do any work themselves.

To be fair, there's a wide diversity of students. Yes, there's the lazies, but there are always also a bunch of students who are engaged, smart, and eager to learn - which is a huge part of what makes teaching worth it, and where I get the most enjoyment.
