dolfinz Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Anyone else applying for the DAAD study scholarship for next fall? I've been working on my study proposal, and I noticed that the prompt asks to explain why a specific program has been chosen. However, on the application itself, there is an option to list more than one program. Is it expected that we explain why every program, including the alternates, has been chosen?
PeterH Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Hey. I'm also trying to hash out a study proposal for this application. Have you had any luck? I've been thinking it might be a good idea to try and contact some successful past applicants to put together a list of suggestions for future applicants (and us!).
kazarareta Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 hey there, was wondering if anyone received their results for the 2014-2015 intake already? my class in university tentatively starts in April and haven't got word from DAAD yet...
saby Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 No news yet. same case classes will be started in May . Have acceptance and don't want to loose this opportunity.
kazarareta Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 hey saby, thanks for that - guess I'm not the only one. have you done any other measures to process school applications, etc. though?
kazarareta Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 or have you gotten in touch with a DAAD officer who could help with locating/giving news about the results? thank you!
saby Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Which country you beolong? For my country they have declared that procedure got changed and now candidates will hear only from DAAD-Bonn in Feb/March. I think they will announce anything in March propably.
kazarareta Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I'm from the Philippines. I also got notification that we will hear news first week of march. I'm really getting nervous as my class starts right on the first of April and I haven't started with my visa or anything else yet...
Sarah Bee Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Is proficiency in German language necessary for DAAD?
kazarareta Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 @sarah, depends on which program you apply to. they didn't require it for the program I applied to, although they highly recommend any proof of german language study.
Sarah Bee Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 @sarah, depends on which program you apply to. they didn't require it for the program I applied to, although they highly recommend any proof of german language study. Oh okay thank you. I tried applying to some German universities but almost all of them require German language proficiency, at least B1 level

I'm really getting nervous as my class starts right on the first of April and I haven't started with my visa or anything else yet... Will you go for your program any way? I mean irrespective of scholarship?
kazarareta Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 probably not. I don't have sufficient funds for a year and a half program, unfortunately
kazarareta Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 any news if you guys heard word about the results already?
saby Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 No news, still waiting for the results. I came to know that competition is very tough and only one out of ten will get it.
kazarareta Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 ah man that's pretty tough - still hoping for the best though, otherwise I need to find a new job soon...
saby Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 hey, are you waiting for masters or PhD results? Results for Masters program had already announced by DAAD. I knew it because some of the recipient were updating their status and asking questions about relevant matters with DAAD on their face book account. You can visit to DAAD-Pakistan fb account for rechecking. ah man that's pretty tough - still hoping for the best though, otherwise I need to find a new job soon...
stefairy Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I applied for the Masters program through DAAD North America, and I still haven't heard anything. I called last week, and the person I spoke to in NYC said that everything is done on their end, they're just waiting for the stamps of approval from Bonn. Hopefully we'll all find out soon! Habicht 1

lalakey Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Whatttt how did you get news already?? Did you get something in the mail? Last year I didn't get an email rejection, just via mail...
saby Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 yes, I got the email. I think they announced Pakistan's result. I can say any thing about other regions.
TheFlyingScholar Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Have you guys seen the DAAD poetry jam? It's a bit silly, but will provide r/t airfare to Germany in exchange for the "best" one minute rap. Perhaps of interest to some of you Germanophiles!
