Twoone Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Have any of you applied to the MSW programs in California? I just submitted my apps through csumentor to: SFSU SJSU CSUEB CSU Stanislaus CSU Sacramento more pending just dont know where yet.
hiclub2 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I'm from california but I'm not sure if I am applying csu or not
Adri0507 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I started filling out my CSU apps yesterday, but stopped at some parts because I needed clarification as far as the academic reference portion goes and what the schools I'm applying to prefer... I'm planning on applying to So Cal schools (CSULA, CSULB, CSUDH)
MaggieDot Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Not yet, filling out the initial app on CSU Mentor as soon as I get confirmation on LOR writers this week, but already started PS for a couple of them.
Twoone Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 I chose CSUs to be cost effective as one of my reasons. I'm sure they'll be just as great as UCs and any other private schools. I'm also applying to programs in SoCal but not sure which... I kind of jumped the gun applying to the ones I mentioned above... Shouldn't have applied so fast... Applying cost a lot of money and I'm not even done yet. Not enough confidence of getting in so I also applied to "back up" schools just in case lol.
hiclub2 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 yes I've noticed CSU's and UC's are the hardest too get in! Goodluck!
hiclub2 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 if you attend CSU's as a cali resident. do you get calgrant and pell grant just like undergrad?
creativesocialworker Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Hii guys. I recently got my MSW from UCLA and am open to answering any questions you may have about MSW programs/the application process (uclasocialworker@gmail.com). I also have a blog that provides resources to new social workers (creativesocialworker.tumblr.com). Good luck! Unfortunately you cant get cal/pell grants for grad school :-/
friedgreentom Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 The mentor application asks you to list 3 faculty members who will be writing your LOR. How are you guys handling this? I was thinking I would either a) just list my 3 references even though some are from work/ professional (not faculty) or better yet just write, LORs to be sent separately. Thank you for your thoughts!
Adri0507 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 friedgreentom, I was confused about this as well. I went to an information session for a CSU I'm applying to and they said it was fine to list the references that you will get letters from, even if they're not academic. However, I'm unsure if this just applies to this particular school, so I plan to ask this question at the info sessions I will attend, or just by contacting them and asking. friedgreentom 1
