Has anyone accepted/declined their offer at Penn State? It's weird not seeing anything in results search when applicants last year were getting decisions in January.

I spoke with my POI at Penn State in mid January and was invited out to the Visiting Weekend Feb 20-22.  They said they will probably make decisions within a week or so after that.

I listed the interview invite on the Results board.  The search function is very particular.  If you put "Penn State" it might not pull up results listed as "Pennsylvania State..."

I know some people were asking about GA Tech, and I'm pretty sure all of the acceptances have been offered. I don't know if people have been notified if they've been waitlisted, and I dont think the rejections have gone out yet.

No one has accepted yet (as Bren mentioned, people are coming in this weekend, so no official offers have been made). We did have one person decline visiting weekend because they decided to commit somewhere else.  We were discussing it in our program meeting last week, because it seems like there is a pressure for students to make decisions super early this year and we don't really know where it came from.

I know at least when I was in the decision mode (which was 5 years ago at this point), it wasn't until the end of March that schools started harshing my mellow about not making a decision. Don't feel like you need to make a decision right away; visit schools are figure out where you will be happiest. (That being said, once you make a decision, be courteous and let people know as soon as possible).

What makes you think that?

Gibbas, aren't you one of the students in the I/O program at Tech now (congratulations, by the way)? How did you find out all of their offers have been extended?

And sorry about the double post, guys. The editor is not working for me right now at all, haha. Cell phones are a blessing and a burden, for sure!

Hello, just found this forum!

I was wondering who is going to visiting day at PSU and CSU? Who are your POIs?

Thanks!

Received an email with an offer of acceptance to the Florida institute of technology's I/O Ph.D. program, without funding. Just updating everyone!

Hello fellow applicants,

I hope this is not disruptive, but I was wondering if anyone had information/ advice.  I applied to Maryland, George Washington, George Mason, U. Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina SU, Clemson, and Texas A&M and have not heard anything from any of the schools yet.  Does that suggest rejections because I was not contacted for interviews?

For what it is worth:

GPA: 3.75

GRE: 161-V 162-Q

Currently working in an I/O consulting firm

You might try searching the results page. I wouldn't lose hope - you have a pretty high GPA and test scores. Any research lab experience? Are you doing any research in your current position?

I'd say you have a shot. Lots of schools send out acceptances in waves. If their first choices accept elsewhere, they'll just go down the list. I know people in I/O programs now that didn't hear back until late February. No need to panic just yet.

Just got my official rejection email from UConn. I've been contacting them since November last year. I've tried email and phone calls but today is the first time I heard from them. Not a very pleasant experience.

So according to the results page, people got rejection emails from UConn today. I didn't... but no other word from them... I'm going insane waiting.

That's what happened with me and CMU. A bunch of people got rejections last week and posted about it. I didn't get my rejection until yesterday.

EDIT: "Short" Wait List! Yay :)

I see that some people are waiting on the same universities as I am so I'm assuming that they are still looking at applications.

What does everyone think about emailing each program asking about an update?

From what I've heard they either don't respond or just give you a vague, "you app is still under review" response.

Hi Everyone!

First post here so sorry if this is already old news to some of you.

Saw that some of my universities that I've applied to for PHD programs have sent out acceptances/rejections already but I havent gotten anything yet!

George Washington

George Mason

U of Maryland

U of Georgia

Illinois Institute of Technology

Georgia Tech

No updates on application status, no emails or letters. Hopefully I'm not rejected and just havent heard about it yet but if anyone knows if they're done sending out invites/acceptances or not please let me know!

Thanks!

Hey there. First post. My intention is to get a PhD, but because my GPA is very low by the standards of most PhD programs (lower than anyone else's I've seen posted in this thread) I decided to hedge my bets and mostly apply to Masters programs for now, although there are a few exceptions. I have yet to hear anything, which in many cases isn't surprising, as the masters programs generally have much later application deadlines--some of which extend as far back as mid March--but I figured I'd post anyways in case anyone else is waiting to hear from any of the same schools.

GPA: 3.40

166 V, 156 Q

3 research projects, including a year-long independent study

2 conferences--1 poster, 1 lecture

PhD Programs:

George Washington University

Virginia Tech

University of Maryland

Masters:

George Mason

East Carolina

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

Indiana University--Purdue University Indianapolis

University of West Florida

Radford

California State University, San Bernardino

Appalachian State

Hi! Other than your GPA and your quant scores, I would say you have good credentials, especially with your research, independent study and your poster/lecture.

I have similar scores as you and still waiting for most of my schools to decide. It's good that you applied to a bunch of masters, you have a much greater chance with those programs.

Your GPA is actually the only thing I can see being a hindrance to you, but given that you're applying to mostly masters programs, I would say that it shouldn't affect you at all. Most M.S. programs require you to have an A or B in every class, just like Ph.D. programs, so you should definitely be able to earn a GPA that is more favorable for Ph.D. programs while you're in school, which would make your application extremely competitive in the future. Getting a masters is really a fantastic idea, and I'm still considering applying to an M.S. program, myself. After visiting one university, one of the grad students told me she wouldn't recommend a Ph.D. to anyone. Now, I'm not quaking in my boots or anything, and my heart is still pretty set on a Ph.D., but having the option to get out and work in two years making 65-70k starting doesn't sound bad at all either.

That aside, your verbal score is particularly outstanding, and if your personal statement follows suit then I feel pretty confident in saying that you'll probably have multiple offers on the way from those masters programs. The only other thing I can tell you is that someone on here I believe has said that George Washington already sent out offers, but I never heard back from them either. Good luck (but you probably don't need it)! :)

Has anyone applied to Claremont Graduate University, Illinois Institute of Technology, or Louisiana Tech University?

If so have you heard back? Especially from Claremont Graduate University. They also keep sending me emails to come and visit their campus so I finally decided to come, is this a good sign that I might be accepted? Or is this just wishful thinking on my behalf? haha

Swkmjjjj I applied to Louisiana Tech, I have not heard anything back yet. However, their deadline for applications was less than a week ago, so I think there is a good chance they are still reviewing them. I know in the past they have done a interview weekend, so that is something to keep an eye on. I can't give you any input on the other two! Good luck with the process:)!
