guagua Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Anyone heard back from Western Ontario and Virginia Tech? I have not seen any posted results from UWO...
BeingThere Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) For Akron, Rice, and Colorado State: apparently there is another category of applicants other than accepted, waitlisted, or rejected. They have all informed me that my application is still being "considered" but some initial offers have gone out. So if you haven't gotten an actual rejection from those programs, there may still be hope for you. Edited March 6, 2014 by Bren2014
tanneraustin Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Anyone heard back from Western Ontario and Virginia Tech? I have not seen any posted results from UWO... Virginia Tech has had their interview weekend and extended offers already. Good luck!
derpina1015 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Has anyone heard back from SLU yet? I just got an email from them today saying that I'm an "alternate candidate" for the program. Waitlisted.
Melissa Jo Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Thats so awesome! Have you decided which school you want to go to? thanks! I'm going to the latech interview day on the 15th, so I'm waiting until after that to decide. Have you heard back from everyone/decided where you will be going?
bzemen Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Congrats! I'm still crossing my fingers, but I'm so excited for you and tanneraustin! UCF looks like its program is pretty great. Excited to meet you if you accept! I'll be accepting my offer very soon. I visited last week, and you should be excited. Their department is impressive... new psych building, tons of resources, and the sense of community is great. Thank you so much! I'm very happy to hear good things about your visit, tanneraustin, as I will probably be unable to visit due to distance. And, iopsychohmygerd, would be awesome to see you there too, as I likely will commit!
IOhopeful Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Anyone interviewing at GW, and if so, do you think you'll accept? I know they've been interviewing for a while now, but I personally hadn't heard anything one way or the other so I emailed to get a status update and found out that I'm essentially waitlisted. Would love more info. if there's any to be had. Additionally, I've been accepted to Appalachian State (MA in IOHRM) and University of West Florida (MS), and waitlisted at IUPUI (MS). Anyone else apply to any of those programs / is considering them, have any views, info., or opinions on them? If so, I'm all ears. Oh and congrats to everyone who's received good news thus far!
IOhopeful Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Anyone heard back from Western Ontario and Virginia Tech? I have not seen any posted results from UWO... Virginia Tech never contacted me in any way, but earlier today I signed into the guest banner system and found out I was rejected by looking at the application summary.
bzemen Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Wait listed at GMU ODU Gatech and UMN. No news from BGSU.. they will probably not open up the next round of search:( I am getting mad......Why schools always put me in the wait list and keep me waiting... 整个人都不好了! Hey guys if you get offers from better schools please decline the other offers, thanks! Hope you will all get better offers! I'm sure you will get into at least one, if not more, of those schools! From my experience/what I've heard, being wait listed still gives you a good chance at getting accepted. How did you hear about your GA tech wait listing?
guagua Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Virginia Tech never contacted me in any way, but earlier today I signed into the guest banner system and found out I was rejected by looking at the application summary. Oh I guess I would be in the same situation...I'll email my POI and check out!

Thank you for your encouragement, bzemen Hope everything goes well in the end I contacted my POI early this week and she told me. It seems that they are lack of funding this year.

coolaface Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Hey guys, I also checked my status on the Virginia Tech banner site but there's no update. It did not say whether i'm rejected or accepted. It's just a summary of my application materials that's been received. Where did you guys find out about your status?

coolaface Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 It's listed in Application Summary > Application Data > Decision. Bren thanks for your quick reply! Odd...in my Application Data it only has: Admission Term, Admission Type, and Date Created. Then it goes to "Requirements" There's not a Decision tab in my summary... maybe I should call the department and ask.

I saw my status yesterday, but just got the email today. So who knows whether they are still going through apps. Good luck!

Munashi Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 This thread has been quiet the past few days. How are all of you guys doing? Thinking of you all! leSpyFox 1
Maziana Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 This thread has been quiet the past few days. How are all of you guys doing? Thinking of you all! Visiting schools! I loved Minnesota, but Michigan State offered me a good fellowship, so I'm waiting to visit them before making a decision. Congrats, btw! It must be nice to have made your decision! I keep wondering and wondering what I'm going to be doing in the fall, how I'm going to move, how much money I will have saved up by August, all the things I have to do before I leave... agh! It's exciting, though. My family is increasingly unhappy with my leanings towards Minnesota, since it's so far... Sigh...
Shushu Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Congrats on everyone's acceptances and hope everyone had/is having fun visiting school! I'm still waiting for some university responses but I wanted to get some peoples opinions. Both school I've been accepted to give partial tuition waiver for only the first year. One provides a little funding for the first year (maybe a month of living costs) and the other has no funding but "limited opportunities" for TA and RA positions, so no guarantee of a stipend from that. Neither are great but I really want to be in a Phd program. What do people think? Any ideas on how I may help fund the next few years?

I personally would not attend a PhD program without full funding. Depending on where you are living you are looking at 30-40k a year *5 is 150-200k in expenses for a PhD. What is your goal? Applied or Academic? An MS can be just as valuable if your goal is applied. I work on a team of 5. My VP is an MS, my Director is an MS and my two peers are MSs, I am the only PhD. I am sure your visit to Michigan State will help make the decision clearer. Both are amazing programs, so I sympathize with the agony of choice. It is nice to know where I am going! Now I am just hysterical about the costs/logistics of moving.
IOSearching Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Ok people holding offers, the deadline for decisions is coming up. If you are holding multiple offers, bully for you. Please, let schools know if you aren't going there that you aren't going there so they can pass your offer on to others (maybe me :-) ). Consider this I/O peer pressure :-) leSpyFox and Chops13 2
iopsychohmygerd Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Offered a fellowship with Old Dominion' human factors program, but I think I'm going to accept UMSL's offer to their I/O program instead, even though the funding is slightly less. Either today or tomorrow, I'm letting go of my offers at Auburn and Florida Tech. That should free up more funds for the people heading towards Florida, since I know they're offering partial tuition remission this year. Question for UCF people. What kind of funding were you offered there? I'm still on the waitlist, and I'd like to go if I get an offer since it's closer to my home, but I don't want to hold out if the funding isn't pretty solid. There just isn't a lot of information about the amount of funding they typically offer on the website. Thanks guys! Edited March 12, 2014 by iopsychohmygerd
