Melian4 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Hey anyone else got wait listed at stanford or Yale, what u guys doing about it- do we usually have to wait all the way till April 15?? I got waitlisted at Stanford for classical archaeology; I just sent them an email reaffirming my interest in the program and I don't expect to hear anything from them for at least another month. A lot of universities haven't made offers yet, or are still finalizing funding allocation, so I'd be surprised if anyone had turned down either Stanford or Yale for another school already!
sarab Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Harvard rejection showed up on the website today, without any notification via email. Disappointed as I legitimately thought it was the best fit for my research interests, but it is Harvard. At least the wait is over! Rejection sucks, sorry! Hopefully wherever you end up going ends up being the best fit!
Canis Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Is anyone willing to claim the U of T anthro rejection? Would you please let us know (or PM me) what the rejection said, and what your application was like? Also, it sucks that you (whoever you are) didn't get in. Good luck on the rest of your apps! There have been five UofT anthro rejections posted. I posted one of them - if you have questions I'd be happy to answer! If they're about identifying info, just PM me.
rbargiel Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Finally received the last of my letters today, so here are my results: Accepted: Ohio State University (1/14), University of Kentucky (2/24) Rejected: University of Georgia (2/20), University of Texas- San Antonio (2/27), Indiana University (2/28) A little disappointing to received majority rejections, especially all in a one week period, but excited to know that I've been admitted to two great programs. Still waiting on funding. Anyone else planning on attending OSU or UK in the fall?

rbargiel Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Sorry about the rejections, but now that all of your results are in, we should celebrate for the acceptances! Congrats Thank you! I was anticipating rejections from IU and UGa, but I honestly thought I would be accepted to UTSA. I think that the rejection stems from a funding concern... my proposal is based on shale exploration, and I think that the more conservative climate of Texas may have been unfavorable to such an activist position.
novacancy Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Just got an acceptance e-mail for UMass-Boston, Historical Archaeology MA. My jaw dropped when I saw the funding package--definitely did not expect to see exceptional or even decent funding for an MA program. If I end up having to go the MA route, I will definitely be going there. Stunned. bellabean, Forsaken in LA and NoSleepTilBreuckelen 3
strudelle Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 That's awesome! Congratulations xstopfloating! So happy for you novacancy 1

katekal29 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Finally received the last of my letters today, so here are my results: Accepted: Ohio State University (1/14), University of Kentucky (2/24) Rejected: University of Georgia (2/20), University of Texas- San Antonio (2/27), Indiana University (2/28) A little disappointing to received majority rejections, especially all in a one week period, but excited to know that I've been admitted to two great programs. Still waiting on funding. Anyone else planning on attending OSU or UK in the fall? I got into UK this past week, but it's the only school I've heard anything positive from. I got rejected from Indiana on Thursday. If they come through with funding, it'll look more solid for that.
sarab Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Finally heard back from CUNY, waitlisted! It's OK though. I know some of you are waiting to hear back, so here's some relevant info: They have made 13 offers and must now wait for people to tell them whether they are going. I was asked that if I'm still interested whether it would be possible for me to attend CUNY with a tuition-only fellowship. They also said they wanted to emphasize that this year’s applicant pool was the most competitive they have ever had. "Although I wish I could offer you a place right now, your application was excellent and we would be delighted to have you here if a place opens up." So I guess all acceptances have gone out, maybe some waitlists will come soon. Good luck everyone!
NOWAYNOHOW Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Second Rutgers result today -- anyone want to claim? CITE?
novacancy Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Thanks for the congrats, everyone! And sarab, did they say if that was for all subfields? After seeing last year's cohort size, I'm so shocked to hear only 13 offers were made. :(
novacancy Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Also, congrats on the wait list, and thank you for the information!
DigDeep(inactive) Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Second Rutgers result today -- anyone want to claim? CITE? I know him. He's Evolutionary side (PhD).
NOWAYNOHOW Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I know him. He's Evolutionary side (PhD). You! You are an angel. Thanks, and we'll miss you -- come back and see us next year!
DigDeep(inactive) Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) You! You are an angel. Thanks, and we'll miss you -- come back and see us next year! I'll hop in from time to time I'm sure! <3 Also! His acceptance was unnofficial e-mail from POI! Edited March 2, 2014 by DigDeep NOWAYNOHOW 1

And unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it was for all the subfields although they didn't say that specifically. I really doubt that they'd accept 13 ling people since it's usually a smaller subfield and because I've talked to a PhD student there, and she said they usually just accept 1-3 ling anthro people. I might be wrong though.
