Did they send an email to check the website or did you just happen to check?

They sent an email and asked me to check the website.

Just got a CMU admit. general letter in the email, international student.

Was a bit worried after Harvard and Washington came out, and I was also accepted to Michigan, but now finally I can sleep well.

This is just the statistics, I also applied to the machine learning track, but they said an answer about that would come in the future.

I've been accepted to CMU as well! Incredibly happy right now.

Congrats! I received an admit as well. It said they will get the Open House details to us within a couple weeks. Does any one know if they usually pay for visits for their acceptances? I'd really like to visit.

Congrats on everyone who got into CMU!

To those of you who got in: Do you guys mind posting your scores, GPA, etc. so we can get an idea of what the schools are looking for? And could you provide some info about your application process? Thanks!

Oh, and I was wondering if I should submit my math GRE score. I didn't if the school required it, because I thought a 670 would hurt my chances.

I got CMU! I am over the moon they are my top choice! Just need to convince my fiancee that they are her top choice :). Accepted to stats phd, I applied for joint with ML which has yet to be decided, if that is successful then I can choose between.

My scores are nothing special Q:164/V:169/W:4.5. I don't exactly know how to translate my GPA, but high.

I am basically a pure mathematician turned statistician so I have a lot of graduate classes which I think helped, and one publication and another on the way. One of my coauthors was my LoR writer who told me the letter was 'very strong', and I someone who I have done a lot of independent study with also told me his letter was very strong (both pure mathematicians). My third letter was from a mathematician who doesn't really know me, so I suspect the letter was rather generic.

I don't want to waffle in this thread so if you want to know anything else pm me. I look forward to seeing some of you there!

waiting is killing me :( anyone know news about Cornell, UMich or Duke? Like have they sent out all the acceptance? And how many students will be given offer?

Oops, I meant if the school didn't require it.

I got an email from Cornell saying I'm waitlisted. It seems that they've sent out first round offer, and everyone on next round of offer if there's funding left is on the waitlist. I got an on-site interview from Duke early January, but if you are international, it's possible that they are still reviewing your materials and possibly offering you a Skype interview. There's hope!

"Thank you for submitting an application to the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) program in the Biostatistics department. The Admissions Committee has reached a decision on your application and the Department will send communication directly to you. Please contact the Academic Administrator, Mary Joy Argo in the Biostatistics department office at 410-614-4454 or margo@jhsph.edu if you do not receive a letter within the next two weeks."

koobear,

I think you may be able to get better responses specifically about applied math programs over at mathematicsgre.com where there are a lot of pure and applied math folks. Not sure how helpful a statistics admissions thread will be for math... the prerequisites for entry are different, for example (I myself had not taken any prob/stat classes until I entered my MS program in  math, heh).

You can also feel free to PM me if you'd like. I can maybe offer a few answers since my MS degree is in applied math.

Cheers.

Didn't apply to Cornell, but I also have yet to hear from Michigan or Duke. I don't think Duke has accepted anyone yet, just rejections and some interviews.
