Can I study only 1 year of graduate engineering in the US?

Thanks a lot anthony333 for replying.

I didn't mean compressing the master into one year by doing twice the work. I meant just the first year or around 15 credits, because I don't have cash for two years.

I finished a 30 credit non-thesis program in 11 months to earn a MS in environmental engineering.

Do you pay the usual tuition for a two year master from another university, or less?

11 months is more than 1 academic year which is just around 8 months, right?

There are a few programs. I have a friend who is doing a masters of engineering at Cornell. It is a 1 year program.

What is so special about Cornell that they offer masters in 1 year? Is is a high workload degree?

Are the total tuition fees almost the same as other 2 year master degrees?

I am asking about a regular 2 year degree, but just the first year of it.

Why don't you do your degree at wherever you are from and visit the US as an exchange student?

Do you mean to cut costs?T

Thanks

Yes you can. The degree is either called an M.S. or M. Eng. In all the cases I have seen so far, you only complete coursework, no thesis, which is perfectly fine depending on what you want to do afterwards. Some schools that offers a 1 year master's in engineering include ASU (MS), UCSD (MS or M.Eng), Cornell (M. Eng), Boston University (M. Eng), and USC (M.S. or M. Eng). There are lots more that do this.

Why would it be an M.S. or M. Eng if it is only one year and without a thesis?

Of course it can't have the same value as a two year degree, right?

Thanks a lot
