He actually fled (after beating up the girl enough to send her to the hospital) but he turned himself in a little later. He was the girl's ex and his car is in our house, I think the adrenaline wore off and he probably realized he was fucked. The wall is boarded up and 3 out of the 4 of us living there are staying with people we know. More so because he probably will get out on bail and who knows what he'll do. He also rammed her car so it's like half on our lawn but something's busted so they can't move it.

This morning, some dude drove his car into out house, because he was trying to run my roommate and roommate's girl over.

Sounds like pretty different fields, I'd be curious exactly what math/physics/engineering classes you have under your belt. Most English majors obviously don't take any of the STEM classes required by engineering majors, but perhaps if you were taking a bunch on the side then you'll be okay. Like ExponentialDecay said above, a lot of the classes can't be taken at the same time (calc 1 -> 3 for instance), and would require too much catch up time for them to really consider it.

My mom unfriended me on Facebook and then sent me a message that included, "I always felt inside that you never really loved me or bonded with me. That you were angry at me for something. I expressed it to Dad and he dismissed it." I always thought mom bonded more with my sister because they have so much in common (I'm way more like my dad). Turns out it's because she's thought I hated her and that my sister always loved her. Oh family drama.

If you are both in it for long term relationships, then it is definitely worth keeping the relationship. In my mind, if it's worth it, you'll both make it work when the time comes for you both to make a plan for the future. I definitely agree(d) with this, but a couple months ago I not only started dating a student in my department, but one who is in my year and works in the same lab. (whoops)

I once came super close to passing out at the vet's office when they gave our cat a shot. Went completely black, had to sit on the floor.

We had a student in my undergrad that did this. There was always a constant "yes" or "mmmhmmm" coming from him. It was especially annoying when the professor would ask something along the lines of, "everyone understand?" (He would immediately say yes, and the professor would move on, anyone hanging on had to reel the professor back in). No one ever did anything, it kind of screwed him over a few times because he was only following about half the time. Some professors call you out by asking you a question. He started doing it a bit less because of that. I'm not sure why it reminds you of black congregations. That comment seems more racist than bringing it up to him. I can see that you're annoyed, and I honestly understand where you're coming from, but this has really nothing to do with race, and I don't think he would think that if you brought it up to him. I've found that at least our classmate just wanted sort of suck up to the professor. Make the prof think more highly of him. I don't really have any advice of bringing it up. We never brought it up to the student, because it is a little hard to word it in a good way that doesn't sound like you're awkwardly asking them to shut up. Personally I always sat away from him so that at least if he mumbled, I couldn't hear it.

Now that I think about it, I think I had started studying for the PGRE right around this time last year, and took it twice in the fall.

Personally I would wait. For mainly the reasons others stated above. The list of schools you can apply to will be extremely short and limited. You're looking only at schools that accept in spring and don't require the PGRE. Your gpa isn't stellar, and funding isn't generally given for spring admissions. I would study for the PGRE, maybe retake the general (you probably want a 160 quant score), and aim to apply for next year. It'll really open up so many options, plus will open up the possibility of funding!

I actually spent a summer at the school you'll be attending. I can understand about walking up and down the crazy amount of stairs they have in the heat. I don't think it'd be that weird to bring a change of clothes. One of the grad students I worked under biked and would wear one of those biker spandex shirt and shorts. He'd come in, drop his bag off, and then go change.

I got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YIFKRM/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1 during my last year in undergrad. It actually had an option to fit a 17 inch laptop, but I only needed the one to fit a 16 inch. It is pretty much a huuuuge backpack, but I really needed one that could fit everything since I was biking to campus. Not really "girly", but I've never really been girly to begin with.

If a place can't even provide pictures, that sounds extremely odd. I've been told never rent a place without seeing it, but that can be impossible when you're that far away. But if you can't even get pictures, I'd say no deal!

Are you more worried that Person A will do something to hurt himself/herself or someone else? You mention both, but it's unclear which you are really worried about. If it is the first, I don't think there is much you can do. They are already seeking help and have apparently started medication. It doesn't seem like Person A is in denial about his/her issues. If you're worried about someone suicidal being dangerous, I wouldn't connect the two that closely. Just because a person wants to hurt him/herself generally doesn't mean he/she wants to hurt others. I know you said you have other reasons, but that one in particular can be something many people assume.

I wouldn't say I absolutely need music, but it definitely can brighten my day or keep me entertained. I always enjoyed running while listening to music, or biking to campus while listening (even though it was only a 5 minute bike ride). I also play the violin, so it has kind of become a hobby for me now. I'm probably the opposite of you. You said you enjoyed the lyrics of songs, because you enjoyed poetry. I actually hate poetry, and never cared for the lyrics. Part of this probably goes along with how I enjoy classical and electronic-dance-techno type of music. No lyrics needed for me! In general, I share your feelings, but mostly about things like painting/art and English/poetry type things. I've really tried to learn to appreciate them, but these things just leave me bored. :c

I like mustard on most things. Growing up, I always ate cheese puffs dipped in mustard. Or pizza dipped in mustard.

I think in reference to the difference in STEM and humanities, asking a professor or TA exactly what to write on an essay to get a 100 reminds me of going to a professor and asking exactly how to do a problem correctly. Telling them exactly how to do it isn't exactly useful to them, but guiding them along in solving the problem is useful. "So, I got your comments and feedback on my draft. But, you didn't tell me, what grade would you this draft if it were the final assignment?" seems just like that to me. They know how to improve it, but instead of going and doing it, they really want exactly what they need to get that A, instead of looking for improvement.

Most other schools would let more than 4 go, but due to the smallish size of where we're graduating, we've been limited to four. For me, my sister is living across the country, so my mom, dad, and two grandmothers will be going. Both of my grandfathers have passed away. So I really only needed 4 anyway. I would assume most bring immediate family + grandparents. Other close family members or family friends could go as well.

I think most people at some point want people to pity them and feel like their life is difficult. (Not MOST perhaps, but I think a good chunk of people feel this way at some point). I think I was sort of like this when I started college, but I've definitely changed. It's to the point now where I'll only complain if things for some reason pile up on one or two days, or if something is just going horribly wrong. After seeing other people complain so constantly, I see how annoying it can be. I would give them some slack. They probably are just getting used to the work load if they're first/second years. They'll probably stop complaining as much, and then be annoyed by the new first/second years complaining.

Our school's fees were probably 25 for the cap, gown, and tassel, along with 4 tickets for guests. Although our school in general is super cheap. I think tuition for one semester is 3,250 if you're in state, for 12-18 credits. (We only charge per credit up to 12 credits, or if you take above 18). With extra random fees per semester, I pay a little less than 4,500 a semester.
