tingdeh Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Definitely environmental history. As a side project I wanted to write for a humanities conference, instead of submitting a literature paper like I always did, I instead wrote about Honolulu's construction and the damage it does to local culture and island ecology. I won Best Paper for it, but the real reward was having the time of my life writing that thing into the wee hours of the morning.
WriteAndKnit Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I enjoy the basics of the sciences -- the "real world" applications, if you will. And, after the crappy experiences I had in high school, I actually enjoy working out basic algebra. And the basics of ceramics and textiles. Of course, the various historical/social/cultural tangents I tend to spend time on are connected enough to writing that I can't really claim that they're completely unrelated.
Palius1991 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Writing is what I really love to do, and specifically creative writing, therefore the written language has always been fascinating to me. And not just English, but languages from around the world hold my interest. I would like to learn Mandarin Chinese, German, French, Spanish, and Italian. There are also several programming languages I like such as C++, Java, Python, Perl, Ruby, HTML5, CSS3, etc., but the few I know to any degree are C++, HTM5, CSS3, and Java. They are also used to express creativity in developing software, not unlike how an author writes a story, article, poem, or book.
