bioo Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I already received two rejections from the PhD programs I applied to, one of which was a fall back option for me and they even rejected me. WHo knows and can suggest programs (preferably on the east coast) still accepting applications for masters!! I need to start applying to them. Thank you!!!
starofdawn Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 It's not East Coast, but California State schools might still be accepting applications (if I decide to apply to a California State school, the deadline for some programs is April 1st).
hj2012 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) I see that you're in Political Science, but we might be able to give you more informative answers if you describe your interests / subfields. Are you interested in Political Science MA programs as preparation for PhD programs, or would a policy-oriented program (like an MPA) suffice as well? Edited February 14, 2014 by hj2012
marsmat Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Depends what youre looking for, but I keep getting emails from Columbia about their MA in Climate and Soc. Deadline is March 17th.
bioo Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks for your replies. I'm interested in MA in Political Science as a preparation towards a PhD
Lifesaver Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Pretty sure the University of South Carolina is still taking apps. Not sure where you want to be or the caliber of school you're looking for, though.
petrichk Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The University of San Diego is still taking apps for their MA in International Relations.
bioo Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Okay, thanks a lot. San Diego is a bit too far but I will look at University of South Carolina
hj2012 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 You might also look at Villanova and Northeastern's MA programs.
bioo Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Yeah thanks! Coincidentally, those are the programs I applied to. I'm currently waiting for their decision.Do you have any idea what their acceptance rates are like?
bioo Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 You might also look at Villanova and Northeastern's MA programs. By the way, you got into very exceptional programs. Do you mind sharing what you think gave you the edge?
Icydubloon Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 By the way, you got into very exceptional programs. Do you mind sharing what you think gave you the edge? Different fields have different definitions of "the edge."
LittleDarlings Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Depends on the program I think CWRU was accepting until April or May
hj2012 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 By the way, you got into very exceptional programs. Do you mind sharing what you think gave you the edge? Different fields have different definitions of "the edge." Lcydubloon is spot-on here. Other than generics (have stellar LoRs, polished writing sample, cohesive SoP) I'm afraid that I'm not very familiar with the process of applying for a PhD in political science. Best of luck to you, and you may find better guidance in the Political Science section of the website.
