winncar10 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I was just checking my Next Step TC account and saw "Registered/Waitlisted" on the My Events/Interviews page. Anyone know what this means? Am I registered or waitlisted?
daisynic Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I was just checking my Next Step TC account and saw "Registered/Waitlisted" on the My Events/Interviews page. Anyone know what this means? Am I registered or waitlisted? I have the same thing on mine. I'm not sure what it means. Their previous e-mail said that they would send an e-mail when a decision has been made, and they haven't sent one.
winncar10 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 I have a feeling it's just a catchall for all applicants and that it doesn't mean anything :/ I would guess they'd send an email of some sort if we were officially waitlisted, and since there hasn't been anything other than the financial aid email it's probably nothing... Just my wishful thinking making this bigger than it probably is haha
Stephanie2323 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Mine says the same too. I guess it's just a generic title. I got excited to check, but its back to the waiting game..
daisynic Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 "How will I find out my decision? The Office of Admission sends official admission decision notifications electronically. Once a decision has been made on your application, you will receive an email with instructions on how to view your decision through the online application system." This is from the Application FAQ. I wonder if they get a lot of questions about that registered/waitlist title - it was such a teaser!
daisynic Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 One more thing - A girl I went to undergraduate school with applied to Teachers College in January, 2012. She was notified of her acceptance March 30, 2012. I think at that time, they had a January 1st deadline.
lisa19 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 It looks like "Registered/Waitlisted" refers to if you've registered or are on the waitlist for any upcoming events/interviews. Note how in the same font there is also "Invitations" and "Group Invitations" That also seems like an odd place to put a decision.

She was notified of her acceptance March 30, 2012. I think at that time, they had a January 1st deadline. I also applied last year and I just went back to look and they emailed my rejection on March 15, 2013. So we still have a few weeks. Hoping this year its positive news!
xjmi Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 So this is kinda off topic but since all the TC applicants are here, I was wondering if any of you sent in your GRE scores? I know it's not mandatory, and I didn't because mine weren't EXCEPTIONAL, just a little above average... but yeah I was really debating before whether I should send them in or not!

I know it's not mandatory, and I didn't because mine weren't EXCEPTIONAL, just a little above average... but yeah I was really debating before whether I should send them in or not! I took a couple graduate courses at TC last semester (non-matriculated), and most of the students in the program said that they did not send GRE scores. I think if you're not super happy with you scores, save the $25! Hope that helps
winncar10 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 I sent my scores, but it was pretty much a mindless decision because I was ordering for all my other schools and ended up just lumping it in. This is a long-shot though, so I figured it couldn't hurt. I'm also happy to hear of a general decision date! This will probably be the least enjoyable Spring Break ever...

plmgis Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I didn't send my scores either, I figured that if they really wanted them they would have made them required. I feel like the fact that they don't ask for scores is kind of encouraging, like they'll be more careful to look at each applicant holistically rather than just judging on stats and moving on to the next one. So in addition to the fact that they get like ~800 applications each year, maybe it takes them so long to make decisions because they are more considerate and move more slowly ((or maybe this is all just wishful thinking haha))
daisynic Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Hey all - A friend from TC's program got in touch with me today to let me know she had spoken to one of the professors about the applicants this year. She said that they strongly look at everything in an application, and don't focus entirely on GPA. They want to see that the personal statement paints a good picture of how the applicant is unique. She also said that they received 900 applications this year, and that they send out acceptances in rounds. I hope this is helpful!

But it's nice to hear that they look at the applicant as a whole and not just the numbers.
plmgis Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Hey all! Now that it is March 12th it seems like it might be around the appropriate time to revive this thread. I know that TC started sending decisions on March 14th last year, but does anyone happen to know the status of decisions this year? If they will be sent out that day/later/earlier (well I guess it couldn't be much earlier at this point..)? Even though we're in the homestretch I just can't handle all this waiting anymore!!
plmgis Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Aaand right after writing this I saw that decisions had begun to be posted on the Apply Yourself portal. Good luck everyone!!
lisa19 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Just saw my decision - the letter is on the apply yourself site. Didn't get in but wasn't expecting it!
Speechstudent Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I have not heard yet either but am wanting to get feedback about the TC program. Because it is Ivy league school is the program extremely difficult? Is there a focus on reading and analyzing research studies? How manageable is the program overall?
