supaslim Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I'm really inspired by the work of: Stephanie Young Carol Long Lynn August Peter Voulkos And Jim Schietinger, who taught me everything I know and whose work and perspective really rubbed off on me. All potters, some much more well known than others.
Sareejane Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Supaslim- I love Carol Long's work! Kiki Smith Kara Walker Kristen Kieffer Rebekah Bogard Beth Cavener Stichter To name a few.

seeingeyeduck Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Btw, I see that Mike Kelley was mentioned a couple of times in the other thread... Did anyone get to go to the PS1 retrospective? I couldn't really fly across the country just to go so I'm curious.

Btw, I see that Mike Kelley was mentioned a couple of times in the other thread... Did anyone get to go to the PS1 retrospective? I couldn't really fly across the country just to go so I'm curious. I visited last fall with a friend. It was likely one of the most extensive retrospectives I've seen in a while. I was there an for hour and a half and didn't even get to see all of it. They even had his Paul McCarthy collaboration "Heidi" on display.
llife00 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 the mike kelley retrospective is also the only time in the history of ps1 that the entire facility was dedicated to just one artist.
seeingeyeduck Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Sounds amazing. Wish I could've seen it. I've only heard good things! Will it become a traveling show maybe?

Firenze Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Most contemporary artists suck. The art world started going to pot after Michaelangelo. SocialKonstruct 1
