Harvard vs Oxford for Middle Eastern Studies

Hello everyone,

I got a tough choice to make: I have been admitted to both Harvard and Oxford for a two-year Masters in Middle Eastern Studies.

Pros of Harvard: Reputation, position in higher education rankings and location. Have been there before, love the place, love the people, never networked as much in my life.

Pros of Oxford: MUCH cheaper, stronger programme (Harvard is slightly weak on Middle East), greater possibilities to continue onto PhD as students are encouraged to do so.

I wonder if the extra financial investment (difference of over 80,000 USD) in a Harvard Masters will translate into better job opportunities in international relations of the Middle East afterwards.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help!

So Oxford is a better and cheaper program that allows you to go for a PhD after.... Why is Harvard still being considered?!

Well... Prestige, reputation and from what I have heard, future job networking is a big thing at Harvard. What do you guys think of those points?

Oxford is extremely prestigious as well! I would not be putting Harvard on top of oxford for prestige, but perhaps you have a different viewpoint. I would go to Oxford over Harvard given the circumstances given.

Best of luck!
