RedGradDevils Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Hi everybody. I just got the rejection letter from my favorite program, so I want to appeal for my admission. Does anyone know if it can possibly succeed?
jmu Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Don't do it. If you do anything, politely ask what you can do to improve your application if you were to apply again. nugget, rising_star and themmases 3
perpetuavix Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 They rejected you. Why would you want to go there?
RomulusAugustulus Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 You are only likely to annoy them, and they are almost certainly not going to change their minds. Why risk it? If you really like the program, suck it up, do your best to improve your application where you can, and apply again next year.
the_sheath Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Have you contributed something to the field the likes of which no one has ever seen before, that would create a paradigm shift that changes how everyone relevant in your field will think for centuries to come? No? Then don't appeal. Closest thing people do is do something relevant for a year and reapply, after asking what they could do to improve their applications this cycle.

The fact is that I have talked with one of the professors in the admission committee and got some kind of support from him, but the reason I am rejected is that there are not enough professors to provide rotation slots. Anyway thanks a lot. Edited April 23, 2014 by RedGradDevils
