lelick1234 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I think you have a typo. You can not score lower than a 130 on the quantitative section of the GRE and that's if you don't get any question right. With that said, it's hard to judge how competitive you'll be without knowing every aspect of your app and every app that is applying to the MAAS at Georgetown. However, I would say you have a strong GPA and your verbal is where it needs to be. It also depends on your writing score. Good luck! Hmm, yeah, all I know is that I got within the very, very impressive 30th percentile in the quantitative My analytical was not that hot either, I think a 4.5. I guess I am asking how much more work I need to do. I am guessing that I probably need to get somewhere in the 70th percentile in the quantitative and raise my analytical to at least a 5. What do you think?
Maccabeus Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I think if you can keep your verbal where it's out and raise your quantitative and writing then you'll be fine, especially since you are applying to a Master program, albeit a competitive one. With that said, the GRE is only one aspect of your app and a great GRE score does not guarantee you admission (just as a bad score does not guarantee a rejection.) So don't neglect the other aspects of your application while trying to find that perfect GRE score. Oh no! 1
Jebreel Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 FWIW: 170 Verbal, 151 Quant, and 5 on the AWA was enough to get me a full tuition scholarship at Georgetown. But, I'd still echo what Maccabeus said: prior experience with the region and language, along with a compelling statement of purpose, are more important. As far as I could tell, Georgetown was among the most generous of the Middle Eastern MA programs in terms of merit-based financial aid. Chicago and NYU were also good in this regard. Best of luck!
