Agent_Double_M Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I have applied to 6 different schools, but know that I am to be notified in the beginning of January from the University of Michigan and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I am starting to get really anxious and worried... Has anyone heard anything back from these two schools?

MermaidturnedMSW Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I have not heard anything yet and I am applying for the MSW program. Not sure if that helps you
jvitanza15 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I applied to the med chem program for both and haven't heard a thing. Someone on the results page posted for UNC-CH though.
future.grad.student Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I've heard for UNC-CH, but I applied to the umbrella bio program. My friend got an interview invite from UMich but I think she's doing biostatistics or something of that sort, not med chem. UNC seems to be giving out invites continually though, as opposed to some schools that had a short wave of invites. I'm not sure how UMich is doing it.
Chiqui74 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Where did you see that U-Mich. notifies in early January? I haven't heard anything, and I even checked the Wolverine site.
angel_kaye13 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) I'm assuming he's/she's citing the results search on Grad Cafe. Of course, those results are contingent upon people actually reporting their results, and I'm certain there are many acceptees and rejectees (my own personal words. ;-) ) that are not on this website, so for whatever it's worth. However, it should give you a good, rough idea of when your school has sent out acceptances, interviews, etc. Especially within recent years. Look particularly for your programs. I'm in the English program, and thus not expecting to hear just yet; most of the people posting are within the Sciences, et al. (I.e. the people/programs that presumably consume the most funding, because they need it.) Good luck, and I hope this bodes well for you! Edited January 7, 2015 by angel_kaye13
Shep2789 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I applied to the UNC Chapel Hill BBSP and got a lovely email from their admissions (you can imagine my feelings opening it) detailing their admissions process. I'll copy/paste the important bit it here: 1) by late December most applications will have been read by at least 2 faculty and at least half of the total interview invitations issued. Our evaluations take into account multiple aspects of the application. 2) by early January all interviews should be scheduled 3) late January through the end of February we host six on campus interview weekends . Dates will be offered to individual applicants based on broad research interest areas for the different weekends and space availability. 4) Throughout March and early April offers of admission are extended. The deadline for acceptance of an offer is April 15th. Since they sent that on Dec. 23rd (late December), I'd expect their actual schedule is a bit behind that, but no I haven't heard anything yet.
itscontrary Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I have applied to 6 different schools, but know that I am to be notified in the beginning of January from the University of Michigan and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I am starting to get really anxious and worried... Has anyone heard anything back from these two schools? I heard back from both (applied for Analytical Chem for both). UMich got back to me fairly early (actually, really early - New Years Eve early). I received a personal email from the Analytical Chemistry representative informing me of my acceptance among other things. As for UNC-Chapel Hill, I received an email from them this morning and several other chemistry applicants from other divisions are starting to hear about their acceptance as well. I figure they'll be sending out acceptances over the next several days or so. Best of luck on both!
