This is really helpful! Thank you, alissavar! Although I do know that I emailed the UW River Falls department, as I am interested in applying there, and I am pretty sure they DO require a GRE. I didn't ask directly if the GRE was a requirement, but I got sent the average GRE scores of last year's applicants. I just assumed by that information that the GRE is required, or at least looked at by the department. Just wanted to throw that out there in case anybody else wants to apply there!

Alissavar, I see that in your excel sheet you have a question mark next to brooklyn under the "no gre" list. Im not sure about Liu Brooklyn, but CUNY Brooklyn College definitely requires the gre scores. Hope that helps!

I'm a current grad at River Falls, and you are correct. GRE scores are required for this program.

That is what I figured!  Thanks for the confirmation! Good to know for sure, as I will be applying! ^_^

Uni of Washington is not competitive? I find that hard to believe since it's in the top 3. Are you sure about that one?

You're right.  The acceptance rate for University of Washington is only 18.5%.

It's "only" 18.5%?  Are you kidding me???  I would kill for that acceptance rate in my area!!!  Which appears to be about 8-9%.  Gotta love California...

I consider anything below 20% to be competitive, but I live in the midwest.

One reason some of the schools that would seem to appear more competitive but still have a higher acceptance rate is because they tend to have larger class sizes (e.g. Class of 40-50 vs. smaller state schools with class sizes of 15-20) so they already accept more students. Additionally schools with more expensive tuition may pull more students from the alternate list because students chosen during the first round may select another school (received more funding elsewhere, top choice, desired area, research interest, etc). So it can be helpful to look at the ratio between number of applicants:how many are accepted for a class.

their website doesnt explicitly list it. glad we had that sorted out

its a question mark because their website is kinda weird... and their application asked me to fill in a webform... so i was little confused. it was LIU
