aspiringsociologist Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I am! Unfortunately, we have to wait until April to hear back.Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the recommendation form is like? I waived my right to see it because I felt awkward doing otherwise, but I'm sure there are others who retained access to the comments. I'd love to see the list of questions given to recommenders.
beekay Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 I also waived my right to see the recommendation, so not sure what's on the form.Best of luck to you, aspiringsociologist! Now it's just the waiting game...
Vader Was Framed Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I thought about applying. And then. I didn't. Good luck!
aspiringsociologist Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Good luck to you as well, Beekay!
darshanatvm Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Has any of you got any updates about the first screening?

I wasn't aware that there was a first screening. Does this weed out applicants that have a requirement missing? Or is there some other criteria used in this screening stage?
beekay Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 I also didn't know there was a first screening. Where did you hear about it?
darshanatvm Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I got an e-mail from DPDF asking for my transcript from my current institution. Since, this is my first semester, I ended up giving them a course enrollment document. They mentioned that they will get back after the first screening. I was not sure what that meant, just thought would check with you all.
beekay Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Oh thanks for the extra info! I haven't heard anything yet, so not sure what that means :|
gsssociology Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I applied. I hope I get it. I went on a leave of absence for a year for the birth of my daughter and I am a single mom now. I am a bit slower in my program than the rest of my cohort. A fellowship would look really good to my department and my committee. Does anyone know what percentage of applicants are accepted?
beekay Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Just wondering if anyone has heard anything yet? Notifications were happening around this time last year, so I'm wondering if we'll start to hear soon. kdavid 1
kdavid Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Henry Luce/ACLS sent out acceptances yesterday (2/29).SSRC website says by April, so I imagine we'll start hearing from them soon.
English_Grad Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 pingaling: did you hear via phone or email and was it a generic notification that they sent to all the winners or a tailored notification?

It was tailored to my name. I was shocked to hear so early since the website says not to expect to hear anything until April. kdavid 1
kdavid Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Colleague of mine got hers at about 11 am PST. Tailored email. Sounds like one batch sent out.
kdavid Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 FYI: This initial batch asks recipients to notify SSRC of their acceptance by March 7. Those on the wait list may hear back by March 8/9. Rejections likely to follow after that.
beekay Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 I also found out I was accepted this morning-- good luck to all others! Not sure how the notification process works.
aspiringsociologist Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Unfortunately, I didn't receive an email, but congrats to everyone who was accepted!
