josefine Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I guess it's pretty much over. Unless we're going to have a nice, big surprise in the mail in the following days. I doubt it, though. I hope we'll keep this thread alive and see if we're going to be in the same school next year. Good luck, everyone.
arlutin Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 arlutin, when you called the office, were they able to tell you anything concrete about your case? Well, I didn't ask...her tone of voice when I asked if the accepted received notification via email told the whole story. Yeah everyone keep this thread alive and post decision results !
LifeGoesOn Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I wonder why they don't send also rejections via email.
exp_jw Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I called and asked (I got rejected). Apparently they are now giving out decisions over the phone, so if anyone else is still hopeful, call and find out.
amine Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Same here, I just called the office now and was told that I was rejected. Good luck for everyone
purplebird Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I dont think I want to call and spoil the weekend. I will wait for the rejection letter to come by mail.
durlov Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 did they tell you why they rejected? do they give reasons about what gets an application rejected?
amine Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Nope they give no reasons just few words "Sorry, you have not been accepted ", which is more kind than saying "Sorry, you were rejected" . Anyway, I prepared myself for this answer so it was OK. Who knows may be in sevral yeras they will regret this and may be not
josefine Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 "sorry, you were turned down". as expected
kalih Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I am totally freaking out... I've applied to 5 schools and heard nothing so far. Sounds like no-news-is-bad-news at this point for MIT, so I'm down to 4. I'm already planning plan B. Please tell me this feeling that everyone is going to reject me is normal.
josefine Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 did you at least apply to a safety school?
purplebird Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I really need your help on this guys : do any of you know what kind of delivery service universities/MIT use to deliver the admit/reject mails. Is it USPS or courier service? The reason for this question is that I just moved from Detroit to Boston and people at my old apt in Detroit told me that they received an USPS envelope in my name today and they sent it back because I do not live there any more.

My admission to CMU arrived via UPS "express envelope".
k Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Anyone heard from Berkeley EECS? I'm confused since admissions seems to be doing the same thing it did last year -- a burst of acceptances over 2-3 days and then a week later comes a burst of rejections which last another 2-3 days. According to last year's results, there were almost no reportings outside these peroids, but I have heard nothing from them. By reading this thread it seems you guys haven't either. Has anyone heard news from Berkeley? Any speculations on what they're up to?
LProof Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I think the Princeton Electrical Engineering decisions have been sent. I got an e-mail this morning saying I'd been accepted, and that official documents were in the mail!
purplebird Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Congrats LProof !!! Anybody hear from harvard deas ??
k Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 So really...Anyone still waiting for Berkeley EECS? I'm curious how many are still waiting. Please reply if you are!
LProof Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I've heard of some rejections from Berkeley, but not sure if all acceptances/rejections are sent yet. Also, for anyone interested, Cornell mailed out their decisions today.
josefine Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Also, for anyone interested, Cornell mailed out their decisions today. another round of mixed feelings..
durlov Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 i just got an email from cornell that (1) i'm not rejected, and, (2) i'm not accepted either - at least not yet. and then, something about receiving decision anytime between now and apr 15.

That's quite a window, perhaps their way of saying you are waitlisted?
josefine Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 durlov, did they send you the email without you writing them?
josefine Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 2Qs: 1) did you guys receive the rejection frm MIT? 2) I have an offer from an university, I don't really know if they are offering any financial support but they are inviting me to the grad recruitment day. I am abroad right now, how do I say nicely that i can't attend? I hope this will not affect my admission:D
LifeGoesOn Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 2Qs: 1) did you guys receive the rejection frm MIT? Not yet (but I'm not in the US, so I guess it's 5-7 business days for non-priority mail).
