I would email the graduate program assistant rather than the individual supervisor, as they're more likely to be in the know.

Is it bad taste to email potential supervisors to inquire about the status of applications?

Okay so I went ahead and emailed potential supervisors and heard back right away with friendly responses.

McGill...rejected, they already made shortlists and sent out invites and apparently got hundreds of "dazzling" applicants this year.

Dalhousie...The first round admission offers have been made.  That does not necessarily rule out second and even third round admissions.

Goodluck everyone. Hang in there.

Thanks! Who did you apply to at McGill? Did they say you were rejected or are you assuming (b/c there's always a waitlist)?

@LabyrinthianMind Well I was told that I did not make the shortlist this year unfortunately. I did add a second potential supervisor however not holding my breath as he has not responded to my email.

Did you apply to Concordia as well? Was wondering if you emailed and heard anything from them. Sucks about McGill :(

For Dalhousie, do you mean first round of interviews have been made? or they have held interviews and admissions are sent out?

Ah, I see. Thanks! I'm thinking offers will go out next week too since 24-26 was interview weekend. Last year they seemed to have gone out pretty quick

Perhaps not, the second wave was the first week of February last year. They contacted the additional students due to lack of fit for some of the students they had in mind. Officially unofficially the schools do follow the April 15th deadline. So an email may still be forthcoming for you!

Sorry, What do you mean officially unofficially? An email for interview you mean?

If I remember correctly, there is a April 15th deadline that most graduate programs in North America are asked to go by where they must tell students about their final decisions, and students should accept by. Some schools are very stringent about it, while others give a bit more leeway depending on the program. That was just one of the PIs I applied to last year said offhand when I asked about when I'll hear back!

I know of two people who have interviews at York for Clinical (one was sent out last week, the other was sent out on Friday). However, I think most professors are still sending out invites... good luck!

Hi @Just_Waiting I applied to Lakehead, McGill, Dalhousie, Concordia and UNB. Eeee this waiting is intense and it seems interview invites have already gone out?

I applied to Lakehead too! Still haven't heard anything from them. Good luck!

Called UWO and the admin assistant for admissions wasn't around but the lady checked for me and said she didn't see any copies of invitations being sent out (they usually keep copies) and said that they had only recently finished with the short-list. She said it looks like no invites went out yet but to confirm with the admin assistant tmr. Just a heads up!

@Generic_Applicant That doesn't seem right if Western's interview day is on Friday! That would be seriously short notice

Agreed! That's why I called them! Another poster on this forum called them too and was told invites haven't gone out!

So weird...

There's always the possibility that they're changing the interview date - @Generic_Applicant, did you confirm the date is this Friday? Seems like things have been changing up there throughout the application season, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're postponing the interview day.

The lady I spoke to said it was Feb 5 but then again she is the grad coordinator and not the admissions coordinator. I'll call the admissions coord tmr but I doubt she'll be easy to get a hold of!
