I think Columbia gets about one thousand applicants a year, so it I wouldn't be surprised if Yale got that many. Here's an excerpt from the CAA guide. The year before was something similar. (On an unrelated note, holy shit, I just realized they make six figures off of application fees alone. Heh.)
