To applicants admitted to UC Berkeley:

Do you think UC Berkeley sent out all admissions today?

Is there anyone applied and accepted to systems / networking area?

Anyone waiting from UBC or SFU? Unfortunate work circumstances only allowed me to apply at these two..So chances are already pretty slim...

I have been informed by my POI at SFU that I have been accepted into the CS PhD program. I think the review process is still going on.

Anyone here waiting after an interview with UIUC ?

I have had my interview on 19th this month. I have seen multiple acceptance posts. I have not heard anything yet. *tensed*

I received the unofficial email from my POI that I have been accepted into the CS program at UW-Seattle. I am blissfully happy right now :-)

Congrats! What field particular field were you applying for? UW is my top choice and I'm hoping they are still sending out acceptances.

I think the official notices will be early next week.

Got into the EE program at UW today; still waiting to hear from CS. I'd much prefer the latter. @emmm What's your research area? Computational biology?

Just curious, to anyone who got accepted at UCSD (particularly for M.S.), when did you apply? I didn't realize it was rolling admissions until I applied (12/15). Might've applied early otherwise. Rolling admissions seems kind of strange for a highly ranked grad school IMO.

I am an international applicant, I have not received any feedback from UCLA, Cornell, Austin, UIUC, UCSD, UMASS, UCI, USC and UMich.... Should I be worried?. Do anybody know how International applicants are assessed?.

I got accepted at UCSD for MS on 28th Jan. I had applied on 12/15, same as you. Had no idea about rolling admissions

My guess is it's not really rolling admissions. Looks like just about all of the admits so far are internationals. I'm American, so we'll see.

I'm an international applicant. I've been interviewed from some of those universities (Austin, UCI). I receveid an offer from UCI for PhD.

I got into virginia tech and Utah(salt lake).PhD funded.

I am leaning towards VT.

Can someone tell me about pros and cons?

I know a bit about the VT program. I'd say that it really depends on what you want to do, and what groups you're interested in. VT at least, is a pretty big program, so there are a lot of people to work with, the downside is that it's a pretty big program, and funding pressure can be uneven across the department.

As for more prosaic pros and cons, Blacksburg's actually not that great, if you're not into college football or drinking, there's not a whole lot around, and it's a long way to anything (including the airport).

Got an unofficial acceptance from Oxford on Wednesday last week, should learn of the outcome of funding matters around the beginning of March.

I am more interested in OS/Systems field. Do internships placements etc. depend on the location?

I don't really know too much about the systems side of things. What do you mean by "depend on the location"? Do you mean location as in research group, location as in university, location as in campus? (VT has a campus in Blacksburg, and there's an extension in NoVa, close to DC). So far as I know, there aren't any external internships specific to VT, if that's what you're asking.

Applied to UMCP, JHU, Columbia, UCSD, UCI, Rutgers and WUSTL but have not heard anything except for UMCP :( Got into a problem with the chair at UMCP so he kind of rejected me outright even though I was recommended for admission :( Do you guys think I should consider bad news at the other places as well given the fact that I have not heard anything from those places yet? V: 152, Q: 170, W: 3.5, 2 papers, 2 posters in stats and bigdata conferences.

Does not hearing back from Cal, MIT or CMU mean it's 100% a rejection or is there such a thing as a waitlist or even another wave (CS PhD).
