    @pen2009, @rack_attack124, My personal experience...I am from Canada, but I have taken some Stat courses online from Colorado State. I can assure you, quality of online studies is no less than on campus. Even harder maybe, as online students don't get all the help that an on campus student can. Regarding prestige, it really doesn't matter as your degree does not state what mode of delivery was used.

    Anyone coming to Vancouver for their grad studies? I will be starting my PhD this fall.

    @compscian I don't think it matters what your degree says as long as you have published in related venues. I know people working in ML with all sorts of backgrounds (Math, Stat, CS, Bioinformatics, EE etc. ).

    I was talking to UBC ECE program sec, all applications have been processed and are waiting for faculty review. Decisions expected by end of March.

    Just an update. UBC is using a new application review system this year, so no rejections have gone out yet.

    I would think they must have, atleast to the very top pool of candidates. Most with research interests aligned perfectly with faculty or UBC MSc students. Application review started in mid Feb and I have seen some getting interviews.

    Sorry if it is a bit late. I would highly recommend UW, I live and work in vancouver with similar research interests and ML group at UW is most diverse you can find. It has some best profs in CS and stat depts.

    I contacted UBC's CS grad assistant last week and they said they are still to send rejections....don't know where I stand.

    I was wondering if anyone is waiting for University of British Columbia (UBC) or Simon Fraser University (SFU). Some people have already been contacted by their POI's, anyone with official admits?

    Has anyone heard from UBC or SFU for CS PhD admissions? Not interviews, accept letters. How normal is it for UBC and SFU to conduct interviews for admission? Are the interviews for international students mainly?
