How many times have you applied to Clinical Programs?

This is my first year applying, and I was really curious how many times others have applied and what is driving you to keep going.

  • What kept you going? How did you try to improve?
  • Did you think of alternate careers? Why did you/did you not pursue that alternate career?
  • How many times were you/are you willing to try until you're accepted?
  • What do you want to do after you have your doctoral degree?

This is my third time applying to clinical programs (my first application cycle was 2012-2013!). The first time I applied with an experimental program as a back-up, and was accepted into the experimental program. Since then, I got my Master's, have published my Master's thesis, and have a bunch other first author manuscripts under review. I've also presented at conferences and been trained in a few assessment measures. I'm not sure if I'll reapply if I don't get accepted this year, to be honest. I'll have to see how things go. If I do get my doctoral degree, I either want to work for Correctional Services, or go into academia (or both).
