I have been offered a TA position to help me during my Ph.D. I am not from the United States, so I really don't know how much money should I expect and if the ammount would be enough. What is the average TA income, Ph.D students recieved?

The above answer is probably closer than what I'd give you, which is ~2k-2500/month stipend + health insurance for Chemistry.

It's also going to vary considerably by location. Some of my (published) stipends are around $1500 a month, others are up around $2500 a month, just location dependent. I'll say that's for kinesiology/biomechanics so may not be as helpful as a response in literature.

You should check and see if your university has a published web page on stipend amounts. Those amounts can, of course, vary, but it would still give you a good conceptual baseline!

Knowing the number of hours your TA position entails would also be helpful! I assume the above posters all listed 20 hour/week positions. My school has a wide variety of positions ranging from 8 - 20 hours per week, so naturally the lower commitment positions (usually a grading position as opposed to actually teaching classes) pay less. My school has a minimum stipend amount based on the number of hours you work... I believe the minimum at my school for a 20 hour per week position is around $1600 + health insurance and tuition (student is responsible for fees). I have a 16 hour per week position in the biology department that pays $1900 per month, plus health insurance, tuition, and all fees.

Since we're trading numbers, psychology graduate program in Canada where we were paid $1250/month for 10 hours/week.

It's rarer up here for health insurance to be included because it's socialized. I paid a nominal fee for extended health from our student association regardless of whether I had a TA or not. Tuition is also cheaper, ~$6000/year, so waivers are less common. In my program TAs were only one component of funding.

I have heard about the stipend being around 1500-2500 or even more. It depends on the location e.g. expensive city vs suburban university town.

Avearages are probably around 1900-2100$ per month for 9 months. I think summer pays more. Not sure though.
