Tish22 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Does anyone have any insight on doing a writing sample on the spot at a graduate school interview? Best ways to attack it, possible topics?
fuzzylogician Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 You mean like being asked to write an essay on the spot during an interview? I've never heard of that happening before. I'd imagine you'd at least be given some guidelines like length and topics, but if it's completely free then I guess the obvious answer is to go with something you've already spent some time thinking about and maybe even writing about, not a brand new topic, and that you'd approach it the same as any exam that asks you to write an essay; I'm sure you've done those before.
Tish22 Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 @fuzzylogicianThank you! I have had two graduate school interviews. One, after my interview, required me to write a sample choosing from 4 topics so they could assess my writing skills, the second interview was a topic based on my major (seems like they wanted to see my knowledge in the field.) Writing isnt my best topic so i was worried!
