Does anyone have any recent reviews or information on this school? I'm looking into schools with a later application deadline in case I get all rejections this time around. I know there was a forum about their bad reputation around last year or the year before, but does anyone have new info? I want to make sure it's not a fishy school before I spend another $50 on the application fee. Thanks!

I reached out to a BUNCH of their students, all from their last year class and they actually all had pretty good things to say about  the program. They also revamped their program from 2010-2015 and implemented a whole bunch of changes. The students all seemed happy, the only negative thing they had to say was that the other part of the university, aside from the SLP department was disorganized , they were all happy with their work experience and felt very prepared compared to their peers.

I also interviewed with UDC this week and they are a very small program 10-13 students.

Hope this helps!

Do you know if they have rolling admissions?

Yes, she told me they take applications until May. I had read a lot of bad things about the program in threads, but they were really old information. I talked to about 7 students and they all were recently at UDC , last 2 years and they all loved it. They all had jobs and they have a 100% praxis rate pass. I think they revamped the entire program.

Awesome, thank you for the information! I might apply if I don't get in anywhere else this cycle.

I hope you get accepted! :D

Its good to know that they revamped the program. I'm applying as we speak right now especially since they have a medical track.

Their application was actually rather easy! I wondered why my application hadn't been reviewed and they actually called me to let me know that they were missing my transcript. It was rather sweet and they seem like very nice people.

When I interviewed they seemed great!

I have an interview with them this Friday. I went to visit the program in August after contacting the dean of the program and she invited me to their grad school program open house. I'm in contact with a current student and she loves it there. I'm so nervous about the interview though. If you don't mind me asking what kind of questions did they ask you? I'm in Houston currently working as an assistant now for the past 4 years!

WOO HOO Texas! :) I am from Dallas and honesty, the questions were hard!  I thought it would be a more relaxed interview and they would get to know me better but it was more of , we have 10 questions to ask you and now we will sit here and judge your answer. They didn't give much feedback but besides that, they were so nice! I have reached out to like literally 10 students and gotten feedback from like 6 and they all had amazing things to say about the program. The only negatives were 1. that the school itself is disorganized but that the speech program is separate from the school and that 2. you had to be a bit independent, that they don't hold your hand for everything but some students said that was a positive. They enjoyed the independence and learned more from clinic. Besides that, they all seemed very happy!

I had my interview last last friday and haven't heard anything back. I would just say make sure you know the school in and out and that you know exactly why you want to go there!

Thank you so much !  I figured it would be the generic questions like what do you have to offer and why do you want to go to the school type of questions.  I'm at the professors before when I contacted Dr. Colston about coming down for a visit last summer she was nice enough to invite me to their open house and I did get to meet Dr. Nelson and she's the one who called me about the interview.  I really want to go there especially since I'm interested in medical speech pathology and I know that they have a separate track where you get to choose between that or if pediatrics .  They also told me that they had plenty of different placement sites around the city due to their location which I think is absolutely awesome she also told us about how they get to go to the capital anytime they want to protest any changes being made whether it be for healthcare or anything related to the field! I hope you get in!  She told me to expect the link in my Gmail account but how does that work will it be a face to face video interview or are these questions that they just type out and wait for you to respond?

It was face to face and then a phone interview.

Did they tell you when you would hear back? It's been two weeks and I have not heard back from them.

Spoke to the director and they said that they are working on the applications and we should hear back soon.

The application looks incredibly confusing, like some parts are done online but others mailed?

I know this is a year old but I am having the same concerns. I don't see an option to submit the essays or recommendations on the online app. Do you remember what you did?
