  1. I work as an SLPA in a school. I do most of my studying in the evening when my daughter is playing or sleeping during the week and then on weekends I pretty much have no life lol. Honestly, it has been a breeze thus far... but it also took me a while to get here so I refuse to give up! Thanks!
  2. I had a 3.24, approximately the same Q&V scores as you and a 4 on the writing portion. I was surprised to get in with a 3.24 but I did! My resume, letters and personal statement were really great though so that may have been a big part of it. The only live sessions are the weekly class discussions. The actual lectures are prerecorded videos that you can watch at any time. Yes, you pick your own schedule based on what classes are available.
  3. I'm sorry for responding so late! I have been a busy grad student lol. I really like the program. It is pretty new so there are still a lot of moving parts but as far as the structure and the learning experience, I enjoy it. So there is asynchronous material that you study during the week (assigned texts and pre-recorded video lectures) and then once a week you will meet with the instructor and other class members fora live discussion. The live sessions are great for questions you may have and you will also do interactive work (Q&A) along with the class discussions. There are usually weekly quizzes/hw assignments as well. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
  4. I have an almost 3 year old and I am 5 months pregnant in grad school. And I work full time! It is totally possible! Just stay organized, prioritize and support one another. I will say, with my 1st I was ALWAYS sleepy. This baby, not so much. So I have a lot more motivation to do my school work as soon as it's assigned.
  5. I am currently in the program, I just started this month. What do you want to know about the program?
  6. Yea that is my concern regarding placements. Hopefully hubby can handle most of the bills if I am not able to work.
  7. Sorry that I have so many questions, but it's good to talk to someone who is in the thick of it as we speak! So when you start your clinical placements at various sites, do you plan on working part time?
  8. I went to undergrad in DC and I lived outside of the city. (PG County) It was much cheaper there and it was only 15 mins from campus by metro. IF you do choose DC, just know that you don't have to live right in the city. Also, look for university apartments that cater to college students (there are a few in Silverspring, MD.) Rent is usually much cheape in apt complexes like these.
  9. Have you started clinical practicum yet? If so, how are you balancing working with clinicals?
  10. I applied with the same GRE scores and a cum gpa of 3.24 (I majored in speech for undergrad) and I got in. I am married with 2 kids so I HAVE to do an online program so that I can still support my family. I am willing to pay this in tuition because this program simply works best for me. I would go ahead and apply.
  11. I understand how you feel completely. I got my B.S. in SLP and worked as an SLPA for 4 years and I finally got in. My situation is diff because since graduating undergrad I got married and had a baby, so there was no way I could juggle a traditional program, work, motherhood and be a good wife. I applied to 2 schools and got denied. On my 3rd attempt I got in. (online program). Keep in mind my stats are not the greatest... 3.24 gpa 147 avg on GRE and 4 on the writing portion. What I did the 3rd time around is I strengthened my essays for the program application. NYU requires 3 essays and I know I am great at writing so I wrote some really strong papers. I was honest about my life and why I NEEDED to get into the program. I made sure they knew that although my GPA was not the highest, my experience and success as an SLPA speaks for itself. I also asked my evaporators to include very specific things in the letters of recommendation; (why I would be successful in graduate studies, how I have contributed to the company, my willingness to learn etc...) You will get in! DO NOT give up on your dreams. I felt so low and "not good enough" when I got rejected the 1st two times but I am so glad I never gave up on my dreams. You can do this! Not sure if you are spiritual, but if so... talk to God about it. Pray on it! You can do this!
  12. I just got accepted and I plan to start in May. Does anyone have an idea of how the clinical bombardment at NYU will look like? How often and for how long must we be on campus? Thanks!
