EddieRue Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 More good news! SIUC sent an email less than an hour ago saying I've been accepted.

Congrats getting into both schools! About SEMO, did they also email you? I live in Cali so I'm not sure how long mailing would take.

I was a little surprised about that since it looks like in past years almost everyone was notified by email. The head of the department changed this year though, so it may just be Dr. Brown-Haims' preference to send physical letters.

I didn't know they changed heads of department though. I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer. Are you doing undergrad at SEMO?
eggfish Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I am trying to decide between UW Madison (highly ranked, will cost about $50,000 just for tuition over 2 years but I love the city and the research they're doing, faculty seems great), Marquette (not so highly ranked, about the same price as Madison but I was offered a TA position with a $4,000/semester stipend and some tuition assistance. They seem to be doing less research, and Milwaukee just seems all right to me. I do prefer a small campus like Marquette), and University of Illinois (highly ranked, half the price of Madison over 2 years, diverse campus, tons of research I'm interested in. In a boring town, but only 3 hours away from home). I am interested in medical SLP and may want to eventually return for a PhD. It would be great if any of you can provide some useful info on any of these schools. ENFPslp 1

I'm trying to choose between Northwestern, Purdue and Illinois but all their open houses are on the same dates (18th/25th). I get a good feel for research and program's focus from Purdue and NU, but the Illinois website doesn't give that much information, so I have no idea. I'm really drawn to the Illinois tuition, but the thought of living in Champaign for 2 years turns me off. And I don't recall there being a large teaching hospital in the area since the med school is at UIC.

I might go to the open house, but I've been around urbana-champaign before, and it's not a place I'd like to live in for long. I would be worried about securing a hospital placement. I heard their clinic is nice, though.

mrs_walker Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Have any of you Michigan State applicants heard anything? I see a few acceptances from this past week and am getting nervous! I have no idea what their process is for notifying of decisions.

I haven't heard anything either, but I have seen both rejections and acceptances posted. Not sure how it works, but hoping to hear good news!
koalalover1 Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Well I got another Midwest waitlist at Michigan State today. Hoping one of these four goes in my favor, or else the interview at GVSU this weekend!
mrs_walker Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I was waitlisted at Michigan State also. I emailed to see if they could provide any further information on the waitlist. I do have one acceptance (and I'm grateful for that), but would really prefer Michigan State over Eastern Michigan. Good luck to you on your interview! 46 minutes ago, koalalover1 said: Well I got another Midwest waitlist at Michigan State today. Good luck to you on your interview! Ooooh hopefully they can tell us! If they can I will definitely be asking myself! Good luck to you as well and congrats on your acceptance! Are you from Michigan? I'm from Wisconsin, so I ideally want to stay in the UW System, but if I get in out of state I will definitely have to consider it!

I am from Michigan. This is a career change for me, and I have two young kids and a husband with a full-time job, so I'm limited to schools within an hour commute and online programs. Best of luck to you! koalalover1 1

You picked a great field to get into for a change! I'm actually surprised I got waitlisted because I am out of state and Michigan State is a great school! I know I will be waiting it out until April for the Wisconsin schools anyways, but I also haven't heard from my own institution yet. They are behind here! They sent a first round out and some waitlists, but I have not heard a word. I think they send out another round of acceptances soon, so I'm hoping I'm on that and not rejected!
NSSLHANerd Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 A waitlist at UW-Stevens Point could be a great thing! I noticed a few of you were waitlisted. Last year was a really weird year for them and they got through the entire waitlist. I think they sent out acceptances really late. It is a great program, highly recommend!! DeWi and koalalover1 2

Oooh that is really good to know! Thanks for the info! It is one of my top choices and I will be visiting the campus in May! That's surprising to hear actually. Not to be too nosy, but do you know a general range of how many people get wait listed? Every UW school is different. I know Milwaukee's waitlist is pretty big, but not much about the other programs. I go to Whitewater currently and have not heard a word back yet, so I just cannot wait until April 15! Edited March 23, 2016 by koalalover1

I'm not sure how many are on the waitlist this year, I would think the range would be between 30-50 students. I think about 10 have accepted their offers at this point (those who knew right away) and we shoot for a class of 36. I don't want to speak too soon but you may have a good shot. Are you able to contact the school to find out where you are on the waitlist? Milwaukee's waitlist is typically upwards of 80! If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me Good luck, your waitlists are sure to turn into at least on acceptance!!! koalalover1 1

I know Milwaukee and Stevens Point told us not to ask questions about the waitlist in our emails and I do not want to impede my chances more or anything by bothering professors. I really hope one of them turns into something though! I am really excited to visit the campus! I heard back from Whitewater today also and got waitlisted, so I am now 7/8 on the waitlist! ? This process really tests patience!
koalalover1 Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Has anybody heard from UW Stevens Point in regards to the waitlist, or know how the process works?! I am getting anxious over here
mrs_walker Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Have any of the Michigan State (MSU) waitlisters heard anything?
